ok i dont if you disagree with me or not but i think this would be kinda cool. just think of flying over naboo or tatonnie. and what in the hell do we have tie bombers for and y-wings? they dont even do any bombings in the game. hopefully some time in the future they could have them we could have them on the ground and maybee bring hoth into the game with snowspeeders and imp walkers.
i know if you want this go play battlefront. but hell this has stuff just like rouge squad but better.
and think about using ur turrets on a base to shoot down a xwing or a tie fighter, bombing bases what are the chances of us haveing somthing like this

Take a speeder, drive full speed through theed. Now imagine doing that in a twitch based fighter.
Bombers can also bomb capital ships like the SD and Corvette. Y-wing "LP" is a great ship, once you get used to its slugginess.

Now imagine how many people would be trying to fly or land their ships in a popular city like theed or coronet - it would be absolute chaos! I doubt you'd be able to see the starport for all the ships parked in the way.
A different idea might be to introduce the airspeeder - something about the same size as an X34, but it can fly through the sky. I know that misses out the option of attacking targets with it, but maybe that'll be introduced someday - ever looked at the underside of a speederbike in game? It's still got a gun!

for one whne i drive threw theed i go just fine. and check this out when you run out of parking spaces at the store what happeds? u got to park futher and walk futher. so go figure make parking spaces. now another thing once they park it on the planet and its just sitting there it could take dmg so that way people can store there ship.

I know what your saying and it would be so awesome. But from what I heard (may not be true) in order to have atmospheric flight like your talking about would take massive amounts of animations. Every possible angle and view imaginable would have to be rendered taking into consideration distance and details. Thats why the jetpack only fly's so high, or so I heard.
The same effect could be made with some carefully made cut scenes, as far as landing and taking off. They could reanimate the starports to include a landing bay full of ships. when you appraoch the space station and choose to land a cut scene of your ship desending and landing. The player wouldload on the ground as they donow butwith the diffent ships and bays it would give the effect of landing. Just reverse the process for taking off.
But the problem with this is the different texture and colors of the ships would require numerous cutscenes and then the right one to match your ship would have to be selected for display.Of course a long with that is the weather and time of day, it would not be cool to see a cut scene of your ship landing at a starport in sun shine, but when you load into the world it isnight in a storm. In other words, the demands on server resources would be high, just for a more or less cosmetic effect. Yes it would help immersion but would it really be worth it for the problems it may cause? Personally I would rather see them concentrate on other aspects of JTL.
I don't know much about animation and even less about coding but I think atmospheric flight could be done in a similar cut scene way, as far as taking off and landing. Instead of a fast decent or take off just a scene of your ship rising so high and then loading into the cockpit, kind of like the hyperspace cut scene. Does that make sense? Not the actual hyperspace cut scene but one of the general area and terrain your in.
After that maybe they could restrict how low or high you could fly and how you interact with the ground, what animations would be needed. Like if I was out setting a harvestor, would you be able to see me from your cockpit? Would I be able to look up and see your ship flying around? Face it, there just has to be limitations, I think. Maybe some day we will have some super servers and engines to support that kind of thing. But it would be awesome to dive bomb an ancient kryat or use ships to wipe all the rebel bases off my server.
Well I rambled long enough.
