Thread: Access to Outpost starport platforms?

Anyone else ever noticed that there is a door up on the platform where the transport lands at Outpost starports? It looks like at one time there was a door behind the travel terminal inside (the travel terminal now blocks it). Were we supposed to buy a ticket and then head up to the platform to board the shuttle originally? I assume the ticket droid would have been up there too...

Just curious.

ohhh... I did not notice the door behind the travel terminal. I will give it a look next time I have a chance. Sounds like it would have been a fun thing.

I think they had the ability for players to go upstairs and onto the platform in the past or maybe when the game was in alpha but i think they might of had problems which caused them to lock the door and place a terminal infront of it.... Most likely bug is players or the npc travel droid would fall from the platform and go down to the drop or something like that. But it would be fun to have the ability to go up there and have some fun with the sight seeing from that level

I've noticed the same thing actually and wondered the same thing.

Here's what I do know. It used to be that the transports would land and go through their platform and land on the actual ground. They would be sitting basically IN the platform which looked really odd. It was like this for some time after the game went live. A few months at least.

I remember the first time I went to an outpostI tried getting on top of the housing next to the platform because I thought I had to be up there to get on the ship. Someone then pointed me to the right direction of the ticket droid. Then the ship magically floated through the platform and landed next to me.

Maybe the same problem they had with the ship is a problem they had with ourselves or the terminal or the droid and they never changed it back.

It would be pretty cool to be able to walk up to the top of the port and board the shuttle from there. It would give it a nice starport/realistic airport feel...

I think from lok but many somewhere else, if you get high enough, you see a door on top of the platform. Oh, and there is a door on the opposite side of the building from the ticket counter room door.

Wouldnt it be great if you could go up on the landing pad, call your ship, the jump in to take off? I dont need atmospheric flight, I just wanna see ships on the ground from time to time, you know, like in StarWars?

I know atmospheric flight would probably be a nightmare to code, but with the right combanation of cut scenes, like they use for hyperspace, I think a reasonable landing and take off sequence could be achieved. Maybe some day they will get around to animating the height and perspective needed for atmospheric flight. But I would rather see them address a few other things first.

I remember that as well, might even have some screenies from Lok. I also rmember my confusion when it changed to the ship landing on the platform. Didn't see the ship, I heard it but didn't see it. As a result I spent another 5 or 10 minutes on Lok. Funny can't remember how long the wait was. Anyway I also tend to remember from time to time the droid would dissapear, but in reality he'd be on top of the platform. Oh well, I rarely use them anymore.
