I'm running my tier three missions in a Y-Wing longprobe. I really like the ship, since I have bigger guns, shields, and armor. However, I used to be able to let a ship do a fly by, then pile on the booster and stick on their 6. These days the NPC ships do some kind of funky Babylon 5 180 flip and it's impossible for me to stay on their tail. Am I doing something wrong, or are these new NPC ships doing impossible things?

No, not impossible things. Rather, they are doing more intelligent things. Doing things that a human being would do. So, keep that in mind as you fight them next time, and see if you can't anticipate their counter-reactions.

I still fly my Longprobe as an Alliance Ace (let me tell you those Droid Figthers really get on my nerves). Anyway, I have found that a simple "early turn", which used to work in the past, is no longer up to snuff. But I've managed to get a feel for their new AI. The trick, really, is to begin your tightest turn and keep it on course through their maneuvers by rolling properly. A good roll can help a Y-Wing out-corner even the fastest AI ships, as well as all but the best player controlled ones, as well.
