PvP is totally pointless at this time, since it´s to easy to "insta kill" others. We need better shields and armor that won´t collapse with a single hit taken.

What's the max damage on that gun? I use a 2800/3800 14+ recharge shield whichcan soak up quite a few hits.

Nice shield, must be a droid command-used and Reverse Engineered one right?
But if you craft a shield, the biggest you get it 2100 front/rear with 13.8 or something recharge.
I think that should be changed so that you can get Crafted Shields with 5k/5k and RE`d with 1 or 2k more...
THAT would make PvP much more interesting, cuz you would need to hit ur target quite often and it won´t be a matter of "Who-hit's-first-scores" anymore.

The space PvP is a bit fast for a lot of people. However, it's a heckuva lot better than the ground. On the ground newbies just don't stand a chance. In space PvP, Tier 2 Pilots can effectively overwhelm Aces (especially if they use missiles/torpedos) simply because the damage output is so high compared to any defensive measure.
On the ground, a templated character canstand against any number of novice combat professions without anything to worry about. In space, no Ace is going to get away unscathed if he decides to engage an outrageous number of opponents. It brings a LOT of balance to space that this is indeed the case. (Ofcourse, in one-on-one fights, the newbie still has a severe disadvantage, but it can be overcome with a few friends.)

How is the PvP balance between the fractions? I only got my imperial ace box last night, and haven't tried any real PvP yet. But if PvP is anything near PvE, I have to admit, that we imperials do seem to have a few advantages at this time. One, of course, is the bugged weapons overload 3 program, that allows continously firing of multiple lasers, pretty much regardles of capacitor stats - but my guess is, that every ship participating in PvP has this one loaded... But the bomb strike specialties also seems very powerfull to me? At least that was what enabled me to solo the ace mission with the Correlian Corvette and it's Gunboat escort.
Perhaps the low mass of the imperial ships evens this out? What is the current concensus of this?

Only three things matter in PvP - REed weapons, decent shields that can soak up player-made weapon hits, and maneuverability at high speeds. They can't hit what they can't centerline.
I've been engaged in a 3-on-1 and taken multiple hits from player-made weapons and lived, but pretty much everyone who has gone up against my L7 REed weapon always asks what the hell I was using that tore off their shields in one hit.
