Thread: Why not let us enter our own hyperspace coords?

I think it would be great if we could hyperspace to player-created waypoints, does anyone else agree? It would make PVP battles much more interesting, that's for sure.

Agreed, not only would it make pvp better, but pve, like when you have a friend help ya and you can't hold on, but they ahve to drive like 1000000000 miles to get to ya. i absolutely agree, that's the idea of hyperspace imho

While the idea has some merit, there are a few things to remember.

1. You can't hyper through gravitational fields

2. Sectors are very small

Hyper points like in JTL are put there because they are known as safe hyperspace points where you probably won't get destoryed when entering hyperspace. If they let us choose our own coordinates, there should be risk of damage or even being destroyed. People would learn of better jump points and use them more often, but when jumping to help someone out, there is a risk involved. Also, SOE made the space sectors very small. You can traverse the entire sector in less then 10 min. (with a good engine it can be done in 5. I believe the sectors are around 15 square km. You can travel 1km in about 30 seconds going 1000.

If the devs were to make larger sectors and make them have risk to making a non-verified jump, then I am all for the idea.
