Thread: /ui command for Current Target Brackets?

What is the command, if any, to change the Current Target Brackets on the HUD? Right now the brackets around my targeted craft or station (friendly or not, in combat or not) are all single-line segments. The best representation I can give is:

( |-o-| ) = Mine
{ |-o-| } = Others, like the brackets in all the screenshots

(That's a TIE Fighter by the way )

I have checked on two friends' computers who, as far as I know, haven't changed from the default setting. I am aware of the /ui commands for changing the targeting reticle and such, but can't find one for the current target brackets. Please help.

I would be interested in this as well. Do you have a link for the /ui commands for changing the targeting reticle?

Hey Talon, the reticle command is:

/ui reticleselect # (0-6)

They're kinda cool, whatever fits your taste. If you type "//ui" a list of commands comes up, but I couldn't find anything that had to do with the target brackets. There are also 3 different kinds of radar/shield options.

Hope this helps!

Something like " /ui radarselect " - you could probably get away with just " /ui radar "

Again, just by typing " //ui " in the chat window will bring up a list of commands. The radar one is on there.

Good luck

While we're on targeting, anybody know how to turn off the green lead targeting cross. I hate that thing, it's not accurate and laggy as heck. It only distracts me.

I find that green lead targeting extremely acurate, just put the center of the first blue lead box for your ship directly on the center dot, I can drop a ship in about 10 consecutive shots with the issue junk tie ship, it seems to be a "sweet spot" sort of target that does a lot of damage, and doesnt do the normal "shield deflection" damage on a ship. It sort of explodes and fire bursts from the back after each shot. Not for sure, but I love it.

Oh, I have no trouble downing ships. But for me, I can only connect with the target if I aim a little bit behind the green dot, ie between the target and the green lead indicator. That's why it's distracting, because if I actually try using the green dot, I miss. I just want an option to turn it off.

That's because you're turning inside the target. The target-lead only shows where the target will be if it continues in a straight line. Most of the time the AI is turning (towards you), which means they aren't actually traveling quite as far length-wise as they would if they were traveling in a straight line.

Ie, the more they turn towards you, the further in you have to target. Once you figure out the speed and turning radius of various enemy ships, it becomes incredibly easy to predict just how much short of the target-lead they are. And the very rare instances they travel in a straight line (or they're very piggish in their turns), the target-lead is dead accurate.
