Thread: Having strange issues with JTL that someone may have seen…
Hi all. I’m having some issues with JTL so I thought I’d make a quick post to see if any of you had seen them before:
When I go in to space to kill, loot and pillage I’m experiencing a lot of rubber banding issues - where the ship slows right down, shoots backward off the screen, powers up again and heads off in the direction in which it was pointing once more - which is a pain at the best of times, but it gets really annoying if it happens while I’m in combat, which of course it does…frequently. Oh and talking about Combat; when I finally get to my destination, I start fighting and all of a sudden the ships I’m firing at start shooting all over the screen like the pilots have taken too many Amphetamines or something! This results in it taking me 15 minutes to kill just one Tier 1 ship, which we all know is just plain silly. *grrr*
I have this problem on all of the servers I play on, and with each of the 3 Pilot Factions. I don’t remember having this issue before ROTW came out, and I do have one character that I did the whole of Tier 1 with without any difficulty before ROTW. All my other MMO’s - including the one I’m beta testing - work fine with no lag beyond that which you always get in overcrowded zones. My LAN here at home only has this PC attached to it at the moment - this one - and my Router is running the latest version of its firmware. My PC has no disk errors, and does not need defrag’d. Oh and I’ve tried setting all the graphics options to their lowest settings…can anyone tell what I do for a living? lol
Can anyone help?

Quick Fixes include;
Upping your RAM to near 1GB (Which isn't to expensive these days, I understand)
Turning down all of the Graphic Settings. (Very cheap performance boost)
or...
If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, ALT-TAB to the desktop, when you login to SWG. Then CTRL-ALT-DELETE and bring up the Task Manager. Switch to the Running Processes Tab and select the SWG Executable, which could be upwards of 400MB if you have 1GB of RAM in your PC (That's what it shows on my PC). Right-Click on that processes and go to the menu option for changing the priority. Select either Above Normal or High. DO NOT CHOOSE REALTIME, if you do your PC will hard lock up requiring you to Reboot the PC.
If those don't help, then you might have Spyware or other bad software installed all over your PC.
Good luck!
My suggestion to you is to update all of your drivers, upgrade your RAM is possible, run the SWG exe at a higher priority and verify that crap you don't want isn't running on your PC. As in, make certain that your PC doesn't have any spyware or adware installed and running on it.
If you have Limewire, Edonkey, Kazaa or any of those filesharing applications, you VERY likely have a whole mess of resource hogging BS software clogging up your system.
