I bought and installed an ion cannon, and I have it assigned to weapon group 2, and I have joystick button 3 assigned to that group. I press joystick button 3 and....nothing. Weapon groups 1 and 3 work just fine, but the ion cannon will not fire. Any idea of what's going on?

Er..what ship are you flying?...cuz in a Krayt...slot 2 is the turret so only the gunner can use the weapon mounted on it.

If it's a Y-wing you'll need a gunner to fire the second weapon. The Y-Wing Longprobe let's the pilot fire both weapons.

Ah, that would explain it. It's a Y-Wing. Sorry for the n00bish question, but I just started playing around with JTL after not playing Galaxies at all for 9 months. Do you have to have any certs to be a gunner? Or are they just to fly?

Anyone can fly as your gunner, even an Imperial player. All they need is to own JtL. It's a lot of fun to have a gunner, and there are things that can be done with a turret that let you take on much larger targets than you normally would.
