ok i am 1/1/1/1 and have recently bought a y-wing and a decent engine(better than anything on my old z-95) and i bought another blaster because it has 2 slots.

How come even if i load the second weapon into the other weapon slot in 'manage', and i set the key to my joy-stick, it still won't shoot? i dont think its a capacitor problem because it uses less energy than my primary, and that works.

Also, im not complaining, but why is the mass listed in the 20dollar JTL guide off by like, idk 13 times? seriously, it says y-wing has mass cap. of 5625, but mine is like 147k and i know many are even bigger.

finally, i think this is the armor bug thats 'going around' but everytime i get my systems repaired they seem to lose almost all of it. for instince my prototype shield gen on my z-95 has the 100 armor 200 hp, but now its down to 45/45 and 140/140, not 45/100 or 140/200.. and as a result the chassis # is like 300. and i dont like it at all.

finally a cry for help. how in the heck are u supposed to grind milllllllions of xp like u have to, the ships i kill are all T1 or T2 and give at most 480 xp, even to get 240,000 for the 4 T2 boxes of 60k xp each, thats gonna take a hel'of'a'lot of fighting.

The second weapons slot is for a second player, the y-wing longprobe lets the pilot use both weapon slots.

The 5625 mass if from the beta days, probably when the guide was developed, they increased all the weights like tenfold near the end of beta, not sure why, maybe they just thought that a star fighter should weigh more than a car

All componets decay, you loose 10% of the total points you repair. So if your armor started out at 100 and got blasted to 0, when you repair it it would be 90/90. Armor seems to get this the worst, since it takes damage before anything else. By the time I finished Tier IV my TIE Advanced was down to 245/245 hp starting out at like 1900 or something like that, lol

This does sound daunting, but it will go pretty fast. Once you get to X2XX and put some bigger weapons in your Y you will be able to take on tier III (tier IV if you are real good) enemies and rack in the points. If memory serves me right tier III opponents give around 1500 xp per, so you only need like 40 of them to get a box, you should be able to do that in an hour or two pretty easily. All of the Tier III boxes are trained after missions, you do not really need the crazy amount of xp listed, same with the master box. If you have a friend who is an ace, ask them to take you to deepspace or kesselin a multiplayer ship, Tier V opponents give around 8000 xp per kill. I spent all of tier IV in kessel, and could do almost a box a night without even trying hard.

A few answers...

your second weapon doesn't fire becuase its in a turret, and therefore you need a gunner flying with you to fire it, you need to have a Y-wing longprobe to fire both guns yourself, and I don't think you have the cert fot that yet.

As far as the xp goes, well all of tier 3 is mission based advancement, so you get the skills by completeing the missions, the xp saves up for tier 4, and the master slot is mission based too.

There are plenty of static NPC spawns in space that will not aggro you so you can take them out 1 at a time, or many other aggro spawns that are not too much trouble.

Either that or fly as a gunner for someone who has a Nova, YT-1300,Krayt, Y-wingor similar, you get xp for the gunning down of stuff without the degradation to your ship.

cheers

thats because your not int the right places, go to a system like dathomir, endor, dantoine or yavin and youll find ships from tiers 3-5 all over.

It seems to me that, judging by the way you talk about the grinding that you are not accustomed to mmos, i find that pilot takes much less grinding than mist of the ground professions, especially the advanced ones

I have found that if you do the duty mission from your recuiter, as oppsoed to just going out random killing, you will gain much more xp, cash, and fun. I have heard that the escort missions give the most xp, but I perfer the destroy. The nice thing about the destroy missions is they are not really the same thing over and over, but they kinda are. When you start out you will have to deal with one enemy, then two, then three...ect. After 4 or 5 spawns, they will send an 'ace' after you. At this time the system will tell you that you have destroyed a 'fighter wing'. Now the fun starts, the duty missions are never end'n (some one told me they do end, but I have never stayed with one that long). After you kill the first wing, it get's harder, instead of starting with one enemy, 2 will come at ya then 4...ect. One more nice thing, you cannot fail duty missions as long as you kill one enemy, so when things start getting a little to ruff....run, jump to another system (which will end your duty mission). Then you can go back and take it again. One more good point for doing the duty missions, when you take out a whole fighter wing you will get a nice big bonus in xp and cash. At your lvl I think i was taking out up to 3 wing's, and most of the 4th, but the 4 ace's were a little much. Hang in there you will get more money and xp when you get a little higher.
