Ok, here is the deal: currently I am a privateer in space and not associated with any factions on the ground. If I was to associate myself with the rebels on the ground, would I be able to continue to do privateer space missions? Also, in the future if I get bored with privateer missions in space, would it be possible to become trained as a rebel pilot?
thanks for the help,

Yes. Joining a faction on the ground would have zero impact on a Freelance pilot.

Yes. The restriction is that you can only be on one pilot path at a time, so you would have to completely resign your freelance path in order to be able to start another pilot path. Also, you can not have negative faction for the npc group associated with the pilot path you wish to join. For example, you must have >-1 Rebel faction to join the Alliance flight corps, >-1 Imperial to join the Imperial Navy, >-1 CorSec to become a CorSec pilot, etc etc.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up. Now I won't have to worry about joining in on the ground war.
