Thread: To Buy a New Ship or Not...

I just starting my piloting career and almost have Tier 1 finished. I have my trusty Z-95 fighter and I was thinking of upgrading to a Y-Wing or something. Is it worth it or should I stay in my Z-95 till I hit Tier 3 and can get an X-wing? The "loot" upgrades that I'm getting for ships aren't as good as what I have on my Z-95 so I don't think there is much more I can do with it. Any suggestions?

Secondly, is there a website with comparisons of the starships and vehicles? I'd like to compare what I'm buying BEFORE I buy it. Also a screen shot of the Rebel Nova Courier would be awesome too.

It depends on your flight style. If you like being agile then upgrade to a heavy z-95, you'll only have one gun mount but you'll be able to move decently.

If you want to hit heavy then go with the longprobe y-wing when you hit tier 2 so you can shoot 2 guns at once and carry a few missles.

I stuck with the non-upgradable starter ship until I could get the longprobe (this was obviously when JTL first launched and you couldn't modify the starter ship at all). When I finally saved enough to buy a longprobe I outfitted it with my looted components and things suddenly got a whole lot easier despite it handling like a brick - so in your case I would say definately go for the heavy z95 if you can afford one, it will make all the difference (unless you're a really bad pilot ).

I'm not an Ace but I can easily handle Tier 1 or 2 fighters so I guess I'm average. I haven't encountered Tier 3 or higher so I'm not sure if I'm any good or not. I guess if I see a "heavy" Z-95 I'll pick one up but if I don't then I'll hold out for an X-wing.

I would say get the heavy version. You won't have any mass issues at all. You can load the thing up with everything and the kitchen sink. Having to sacrifice options because you're lacking mass totally sucks. Don't live like that. Go with the heavy version. What can it cost you? 250k or something? With the cash you're making being a pilot anyway you'll make that up in a blink.
