So does your ground affiliation have any effect on your space affiliation? Or could a ground-rebel be a space-imperial for example?

ground-rebel -> space-rebel, space-freelancer

ground-imperial -> space-imperial, space-freelancer

ground-neutral -> all

Don't know what happen's if a ground-neutral/space-rebel tries to join ground-imperial,butI guess they got it covered, maybe

Edit: I resigned my freelancer pilot skills to go imperial in beta, and I lost all skills and all my space xp. So you start all over again.

Is this possible? If I drop all the Rebel Pilot skills can I pick up Privateer?

Yes but you have to quit Rebel Pilot by talking to your trainer.

yes, but you can't surrender the pilot skills like you surrender other skills. You have to talk to the rebel pilot recruiter (i believe he's in tyrena, but that might be only for the corsec based rebels) and request to resign from the profession. He will remove all your skills and allow you to join another pilot faction that you qualify for.
