Ok, the newbie ships are now customizable. You can swap in and out new looted components and such. So, I wonder why not the yacht.
Now I'm not asking for weapons here as that can be seen as unbalancing, etc...
On the other hand the ability to switch out the engine and boosters would be nice, thats all I'd really pull for.
Be nice to be able to go a little quicker. I understand it's just a cruise ship and thats fine and good. But it would be so cool to be able to slap some new engines on it and change the way the engines look from the exterior. For many of us Imp's the Yacht and the FireSpray are the only ships we can change the look of. Why not give all of us this small ability.
It would still be useless for combat but at least it could have a faster engine.

The start ship changed because some people needed a hand in progressing in their skills. The yatch isn't used in any skill progression.
At some point, when many other things have been addressed, it might be nice to be able to switch engines and boosters on the yatch, but there are a LOT of things that deserve being addressed LONG before.

Sheesh, I tell you what. No one has a sense of humor anymore.
Thanks for the one-star, whoever.

Some people are wusses.
Why not just give everyone the most powerful ships they can have from the get go.
Then nobody has to actually Work for anything.
Jeez, the only thing really wrong with this game is the players.
This is a Role Playing game, it's supposed to simulate real life.
I guess these are the players that get new cars from mom and dad for finishing High School and have silver spoon for shoving up their noses. Never had to work for anything. They get upset if they actually have to play the game and learn something.
Maybe, oh I dunno, Earn something.
I'm sure these are the same types that would rather buy a finished loot item then actually have to kill something, get the loot and assemble it themselves. But I am way off subject here.
I would like to be able to customize my Yacht too, just so it would be different from everyone elses too.
And so what if there are more important things to fix. There have always been more important things to fix. But more important then what? and to whom? It's all relative. Is the yacht indestructible like it was supposed to be? I don't even know. Mine is just a floating storage unit right now.

Vegitaa, I'd like to see customizable yachts also as far as engines, boosters, and reactors go. I wouldn't want to see anything else loadable besides those three items. A good reactor, a good Engine, and a good Booster, however, would make these things a bit cooler. Though, if given the choice between being able to load my own engines, boosters, etc. or them fixing the 'autopilot' so it's a real autopilot, complete with patrol capabilities, I'd prefer they fix the autopilot first.
Maybe someday they'll make them fully customizable and combat capable, but I doubt it since they are a non-cert ship that anyone (with JTL) can fly.

Ok, whoever one-starred everyone needs to grow a pair. If you disagree say why.
Meh, I like my Yacht a lot, I've got it completely decorated and painted as best I can. I have it set up as more of a luxury cruise liner than anything else. Not to "look a gifthorse in the mouth" (lol.. jk Boslo) but It would be nice to cruise a bit quicker.
Don't get me wrong, I rather see them fix MP ships, add an elevator button to the weapons facility, make faction armour craftable, fix the borked professions, etc.... but somewhere thrown in I wouldn't mind being able to customize my Yacht with some better components even as a non-combat ship.
It's a great freebie and I like storing 75 items in space... but heck, I'd love to at least go a bit faster in it.

And perhaps upgraded engines would allow the autopilot work while no one is at the helm as well. But that's beyond the point. Being able to upgrade the engines and possibly the armor would help a bit, both in taking a few blows before jumping as well as cutting down the time to travel around in it. It takes about 5 minutes for me to get from where I launched into space back to the space station. How am I supposed to explore the stars with friends while it takes forever to get back to the station I just launched from?

I believe the yacht should be customizable once you hit Master level. I can't see that being unbalancing in anyway.
It already has a capcitor...whats the point of that, its unarmed!! Also has an access area for putting a ladder to reach potential gun turrets, again whats the point, unless it will be made upgradeable at some point.
I see no point however in making the beginner ships customizable since it takes no more than about an hour to get the first couple of Tier 1 blocks!!
That's my thought on the matter.

Right now, the Yacht is the only acceptable racing ship in the game. You can guarantee that everyone has the same components, so whoever wins does so by skill. Anyone up for Yacht racing?

Not sure on the reasoning behind a capacitor (to be honest, I never noticed a capacitor) but the "turret access" area is there because the only models the Artists had to go from was Lando's "Lady Luck" which does have weapons mounted on it, so the interior artwork had the turret points.

Well, here's the thought on the matter by the dev that designed it:
