Why do i see so many people on chat rooms bad mouthing commandos and telling them to nerf the profession. it doesnt need nerfing, it needs help. i dont understand why people dont like commandos, does anyone have an answer?

Only thing I hear is if I can use a different gun than the one that lags them all to pieces.

I read many posts on the doc forums about how hard it is being a doc with all the rude customers and how to price buffs.
This is quite odd since I have been a doc for8 months and I have never encounter a single rude person that was related to my doc profession.
During these 8 months I been both a crafting doc and a doc that buys all my stuff so I know both sides of the coin sort of speak.
Am I the only one who didnt become a doc just so I could self-buff or make a ton of money on over priced buffs?
Now, of course I aint telling anybody how they should play the game, everyone have their own reason for being a doc but it just seem strange since I never seen any of the hordes of rude players that I read about.
I am a doc to help, if I am out hunting and get a tell asking for a buff (I often hunt with my title up
) then I dont see any problem, all I ask of him is that he comes to me.
When he is there then droid up, havla in, and 10 secs later he is buffed and I am a bit richer, this whole deal usually takes around 1 minute. I think I can spare that much timein order to make the game more fun for another player for 3 hours (or less if he dies).
I dont sit around in a npc city, shouting that I buffthough since I aint amoney makingdoc, instead I run around with my title up most of the time and buff those that ask me.
I consider myself lucky since I have only seen a good side of doc, no rude immature players (related to my doc profession anyway
), no customers who refuse to pay.
Please, dont take this post as a flame, all I wanted to do was to share my thoughts with the rest of you docs.

I agree with you.
But a lot of Docs bring it on themselves.
Some Docs have fun with this. There's a Doc on Tempest that plays games with customers...If they can answer a question...they get a 50% discount. According to him, not many people get the answer right...His name is Pyth Agorus (not sure of spelling) He usually gets a long line...even tho he charges more then other docs....I guess you could say he's got a good bedside manner or something....
There are some docs that are just jerks. Goes with EVERY profession.
There are some docs that are just awesome people...and worth paying higher prices to.

I haven't even tried selling buffs in the traditional manner (sitting at the starport) After reading amny of these posts, I like the idea of just wearing a title and buffing those that ask nice.

Congrats on your doc style
Players can be very cool and considerate outside of the main starports, people tend to try to rush you when they only have four and a half minutes.
I tend to RP doc more than anything and have recently stopped charging-Free buff tip what you can afford.
Since doing this my income per buff has gone up a bit.OK, theyre not great buffs and the stats never match but what do you expect for free, and players appreciate the thought.
The other day someone came up to me and tipped me5k and said I buffed him for free the other day but he didn't have any cash on him at the time. Needless to say he probably couldn't afford 5k so I gave him the money back and buffed him again. I was chatting to someone in the med centre a few days ago, buffed him and left for Cnet, then I receive a message "thx for buffing my son!!", how cool is that!
I have done buff queues in the past but found that I couldn't handle it for very long, so I became a free range doc. I roam the galaxy healing and buffing stuff and meeting new players etc. Players on SWG are on the whole very very considerate, both old and new, and long may it continue

Thats what I intend to do (a free range doc). I did try the starport buffing line once when I was learnig Doc but I hated it, I just did it for some good xp. Now I just buff people that ask for it and charge what I think is a good price for the buff.

I am in the same boat I enjoy being a doctor and I suffer in pvp because of it. I myself have never really had that bad of an experiance with rude customers. Other then the impatient guy in line thats about it. Its good to see more happy docs.

Fair enough. However, that is most likely why you haven't experienced it and that is where the majority of the complaints are coming from. Buff inside Coronet Starport for afew days and you may just be in for a shocker. ![]()
That being said, even then, it's probably 1 out of every 100 or so that are rude. However, it's human nature to remember vividly the bad experience of that one person and ignore the positive experience from the other 99.

well I think it has to do with unique nature of our profession, which is part crafter, part merchant, part service provider and part support profession that join a group on a hunt.
Not sure about anyone else, but sometime, heck LOT of times I just can't be bothered beyond front of my nose.
When I feel like buffing, I put on my master doc title and immediately expect people to send me a request for buffs with in seconds and start making money before I can call up my droid.
And when I get sick and tired of buffing and turn off my title, I expect the tell to immediately and completely stop. It doesn't really matter to me on the least that other players have the mind of their own and that I am playing this WITH other players, the effect of my action of turning off the title should be instantanious because the title above my head changed instantly.
well at least from my point of view.
Sure this is an MMOG and my actions have consequences, both big and small, immediate, short lived and long lasting. But most often I am still in my single player game state of mind and when I change, I expect the whole server to change with me.
Is that so wrong?!?
I am playing a game, and since I am playing a game it is hard to take too many thing seriously and more importantly how seriously other players take it. I don't WANT to take responsibility for my action, but sometimes that responsibility comes right back and smack me upside the head and it ticks me off and make me grumpy and get me all indignent.
But I do get it. I'm a selfish booger.
Anyway cheers.
Another day, another ramble.
