Will mouse flight suffice? I have a joystick, but assigning buttons and ect. doesn't really sound like something that i could do.....

Yeah, I have a nice joystick, but I actually prefer my mouse, to me it's a lot more precise, ofcourse I heard they've improved the responsiveness, etc on joysticks so maybe that'll be better now, I haven't even used it for a long while, like since I first got in beta, once I started using the keyboard/mouse I just stuck with it.

Actually assigning the buttons is pretty easy. If you go into the options in-game and click on keymap you'll get a tab for ship while you're in space. Go through the list of binds and find what you want to change, click rebind, then click whatever button on your joystick you want to do that function with and you're all set.

Does anyone know if you can actually toggle the roll and turn on the joystick.
I know there is a key map that changes it while pressed but once you release the key it reverts to the other control option.
Being used to fligh sim style it is nice to have it role when I press the joystick left or right instead of just turning left or right.
So far this is my only problem with the controls and I love the force feedback they put into the game today.

there was a time when rolls where slow. i think they still suck when using flight sim style becouse of the sliding. but dont listen to me, i never tryed flying like that

It's not hard. Give it a try...you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

some people are better at mouse and keyboard than most people are with a stick.
