Thread: docking? how do i use this

what exactly does docking do and who/what can i do it with? i use the /dock command on lots of stuff but it always says the other ship denies my request

some missions you'll need to dock and inspect.... most ships will deny your request unless you disable them first (use [] to target their engines and fire away) to show em you mean business

oh does that work with players, say in this situation. my friends engines get blown, and he doesnt want to eject. i dock with him and drag him back to a space station for repairs?

Typically you can only dock with ships that are mission targets or 'flagged' as mission ships. By flagged I mean they may not be your mission, but just a ship for a general mission so anyone can dock with it. Like there's one mission on the rebel side tier3 where you have to dock with a ship in endor sector, but it's not specific to you inparticular, anyone can dock with it even if they aren't doing the mission and get the documents, which makes you have to wait around for the next ship. 
But I haven't found any reason to really dock with ships just for the sake of doing it, they'll tell you sometimes that you get weapons data or some such but you never actually get anything since it wasn't your mission.
