Thread: What happened to perma-overt?

Alright, so I'm doing the second Corellia Rebel quest, where I have to find and destroy four TIE fighters. So, I head over to one of the spawn points, and begin shooting down TIEs. Now, while I'm dogfighting, I notice that one hostile is especially persistent (and very good, as a matter of fact). So, I target it...And,it's a PC! I figure this is a great chance to test my piloting skills...one noobie TIE versusa noobie Z-95. So, I hit full throttle and make a dive, my pursuer still tailing me. I quickly pull my ship to a complete stop and veer to the side, as I see the fellow player shoot past my ship. I fly after him, ready to shoot, and place three well-aimed shots at the TIE...

...And it doesn't do ANYTHING.

We continue flying around eachother for several minutes, several NPC TIEs and Y-Wings battling eachother, occasionally taking pot shots at us, surround the battlefield. Still, neither of us does any damage to the other. I give up, shoot down my fourth TIE and head back to the Corellia space station.

Now, last I checked, the devs said that factioned (Rebel and Imperial) ships would be perma-overt while in space sectors, not just the free-PvP zones (Kessel and Deep Space). Can anyone tell me if this is a bug, or did the devs put the axe on the perma-overt idea?

Everyone goes into space covert except for Kessel and the Deep Space zone.

If you want to be overt in space, go to the space station for your faction and declare there. 8)

Yeah, no perma overt unfortunately, you have to declare, it's pretty lame.

They put the axe on the Perma Overt idea - Ive got a feeling it just was'nt feasible without causing major griefing, newb ganking and all sorts of other problems (ie how can you level up to be able to least survive a fight with griefers/gankers? You have to do missions - and you'd get ganked almost everytime - MISSION FAILED)...do you.see their point?. All it requiresis a fewhigh levelpilots in each 'training' sector griefing -all they have to do iscamp at the space stationand blast you as you are loading - and theselamerscould put a stop to all newer pilots completing missions to level up.

You can still choose to go Overt, by approaching a Rebel/Imperial Space Station and requesting to join, plus ALL pilots have to enter the PvP zones to level up to Master, however they will be able to defend themselves (4/4/4/4 or Master) so means at least the fight is more or less equal, and greifers will have just a hard time there as everyone else......

Problem is this: If all craft were perma overt, then you would have unconsentual PvP in space. I like to PvP myself, but I also like to PvE so imagine if I were overt all the time and someone or a group of people are out in the area just camping, it would prevent me from finishing my missions. It would get old fast and frustrating. I know it doesnt look good to have rebel and imp PC's that cant hurt eachother.. but the other way would be much much worse.

The master level missions do require you to enter PvP space, and allot of people say its a pain having to deal with campers just waiting for people to come in.
