I have looked briefly in forums, search pulled up nothing on it, and cant see anything in the book about it. What is good lower or higher?

Lower mass = better. The lower the mass, the more items you can stuff into it.

For your chassis, higher mass is better since it means you can carry more, for components you want lower mass for the same reason.
