Is it just me or does the collision detector for the shots needs to get some fixage? I could swear that some time my shots just go thru the enemy ship

It's very lag dependant, and once it happens it seems to happen for awhile until something breaks you out of it. I've shot at the back of tie fighters until I've lost the mission because it took too much time, I know I was hitting but the shots weren't registering at all.

If they arent registering then you simply are not hitting, so you cant know you were hitting (sorry, couldn't resist). But yeah, where your supposed to aim sometimes seems a bit off.

Sorry to say it's NOT lag dependant. For example:
When the ship is disabled, you still have to hit them in a certain spot..
If you try to hit them on the outer area, even if you see it getting hit, no dmg is done.
Lag might be part of it, but it's basically the fact that certain part of the ships are invuln... which is really game breaking along with the auto turrets.

Been having tht problem as well.
So, I tried, for fun's sake, to see if I took another tier 1 duty, if I would be able to recreate that bug.
Oh boy, my shields never got really damaged, because otherwise, I pity the n00b who gets stuck trying to kill those unkillable corporate raiders... I mean, Tier 1 Z-95s from hell, man!!!!
Anybody with a Tie light duty is toast. x_x

I don't think it is lag dependent, I experience this problem even when my ping is down to 65 (and I'm watching the in/out monitor, the data flow seems to be constant). At least it is not network lag rather server lag. My guess is: for some reason, like in the case of our good ole' rubberbanding, the server stops to register the movement of your ship, and the trajectory of your shots. The client's predictive routines still work, so you continue to follow your target and shoot, but since there is no feedback from the server that your shots hit the target, the target appears to be invulnerable.
When the server finally resynchronizes with your client, and updates your location, speed and whatever data, your ship seems to jerk to a stop and then resumes flying at'pre-jerk' (lol, technobabble) velocity, and your shots hit the target again.
I don't think there is any trick on the client side that would prevent this problem. I tried changing my speed continuously in order to force the server to listen to the client, but nevertheless it fell out of synch sooner or later.
