Thread: Just a Thought...Transfers for factions to different squadrons?

What would be the point of that? After reaching Master it doesn't matter which squadron you're in within your faction as there's no more content tied to it. It could possibly make a difference to Freelance pilots where it affects who they can shoot at, but you only mentioned Rebel/Imperial...

If you only want the badges, they are an indicator that you've done the work to collect them.

Since one of the points of pilot progression is to tell a story and complete a minor plot in the course of the game, that would be useless. Since another reason tochange squads is to get additional copies of the reward items, transfer would still be useless. Since you can have access to your best gear by preloading a ship before you drop Ace (the "heavy noobs" are good for that)transfer would, you guessed it, still be useless.

I'm not saying that to be mean, though my tone may seem a bit harsh. I just don't see why your idea is needed, except by a badge hunter who doesnt want to work for it.

heres a though i was pondering for SOE when you reach Ace pilot in any one of your given factions ie: rebel or imperial you should be able to put in for "transfer" to another squadron without dumping all of your skill and equip, starting from scratch and getting a new training tie fighter.

thoughts anyone?

I SUPPOSE I SHOULD HAVE CLARIFIED A LITTLE MORE

the dev's would have to raise the difficulty levels for the tier 5 player or something making the intro missions tier 1s into 4s or 5s and add a twist to, or a whole diferent storyline to it or somethingotherwise it would be rediculously easy and no fun at all. my point is/was why should your toon have to develop amnesia and start all over again to continue with what seems to me to be the main content of jtls. i can understand how one would reason switching professions and forgetting about what they used to do by relenquishing points as they progress in a new field, but piloting is piloting...and it's NOT about the badge...maybe im just crazy...or maybe its cause i haven't quite reached ace yet and havent found the quests that follow. if their are any

I was thinking about this the other day... it's something that, canonically speaking, we should totally be able to do. After all, this is what Han Solo and Chewbacca did...they were essentially master freelancers who became Alliance pilots. Pretty basic Star Wars kinda stuff, if you ask me.

I think the clearanswer would be to add elite pilot profs, or maybe just quests withnice rewards, medals, etc. It would be all content-drivenstuffthat is only available to master pilots.

And it should be set up so people can stick with their faction or switch to a different one, with well-scripted reasons (and consequences) for going either way.

This way... you keep all your skills from your original pilot tree, but you're just applying those skills to new faction duties. I mean, as a Freelancer you're switching back and forth between Valarian and Hutt anyway, so the concept is already there.
