What I think they should do is make lootable engines that are like Lvl 7 that are really fast, but have a low mass, low armour stat, and low hitpoint stat. So you can get a Kihraxz, which as a max mass of around 40k, that goes really fast, packs a punch, but has really crappy shields (if any), and gets destroyed really easily.
They should make this game a mix-and-match game, instead of "buy the ship with the biggest mass and stack the best parts in it".

This evening I was flying around the endor system in my A-wing and I bumped into a Syck Light Fighter. Hmm I said to myself a lvl1 ship but tier5, what can this avdersary do I wonder.
Now the top speed of my A-Wing with Engine tune 2 is 1048, 1445 with boost so did this Syck fighter keep up with me, oh yes it did.
Were its sheilds better than my lvl5's, oh yes they were.
Were its weapons better than my lvl7 Advanced Blasters, oh yes they were
Now to me a Syck fighter is comparable with a Z-95 or Tie fighter, does anyone fly these ships at pilot lvl 4444 with the equipment lvl8, because i have not heard of it.
Now am I going crazy, but can you fit the following in a Syck, Z-95 or Tie?
lvl8 engine
lvl7 weapons
and at least lvl5 sheilds.
Of Course I mean all of these things.
SO how do they do it.
Is it reasonable to fight inferior ships designs which can clearly outgun and and outrun you, because I want a Z-95 that can do all the things these magical NPC dudes can have.
I really hate this sort of unbelievable A.I. in the game, surely there are no Tier5 (Ace) Pilots flying Syck's, Z-95 and Tie Fighters, I mean it has gotta be belivable hasn't it????
Anyway, whilst you ponder some new magical "Game Improvements" please deliver to my character one of these totally physically impossible ships to my character Chewova on Farstar.
I am sure it will save me many hours of searching for the best kit for my PC ship.
Oh one more thing
Can i Have an npc reactor as well that still recharges your shields even though it is disabled
Many thx......

What does this have to do with the laws of physics? Are you talking about the mass problems?

The problem with different "levels" of ships, is that the player population are going to only use a small percentage of the ships available to them in the game. Mainly because as they get the "uber loot", they can only fit it in the massive ships. Before you know it, we have people flying around in tanks-of-ships, that are fast as hell and almost indestructable.

While you bring up a good point, the devs have fixed this to a point. Back in beta I started a discussion on ship balance. I brought up the points you mention. If you are in a fast ship, it should have a low mass, but also have speed modifiers. So in an Awing, with the same engine as a Ywing, the Awing would go much faster. It would handle better, but it wouldn't be able to get the really good equipment, unless you sacrifice that extra speed for it. This isn't bad because a fast maneuverable ship is better in a dog fight, then a slow, sluggish yet powerful ship.
The Ywing, Bwing, TIE bomber and I think the agressor are made for taking out large/capital ships. They have the mass to support the really powerful ships and they can hold a large complement of torpedos. The Awing/TIE Int/TIEFighterare superiority fighters. They have a low mass, but are fast and will stand a much better chance in a dog fight even though they can't do as much damage and die easier. The Xwing/TIE Adv are a mix which can take on a large/capital ship when it has a fair amount of support while not being useless in a dog fight.
So I say, let the people fly around in the biggest ship they can find so they can equip the best and biggest componets they obtain, meanwhile I will outfly them and have real fun doing it. The question is, which boat do you want to be in.
