Ah, well my issue is I cant go to deepspace because of the privateer ship bug that doesnt let me go covert again. I do my faction hunting in kessel, so that may explain the big difference.
Are those gunboat formations on a set course or do they chase and attack once fired upon?

Set course, though the final gunboat in a pack of 3 will speed up once his two wingmen drop.

Since your imperial, Go imperial pilot then. From a PvP /FP standpoint, Its a far better profession than privateer anyway. Infact Imperial pilot has the best selection of PvP favored ships of any profession.

Hmmm...when it comes to having the best PvP ship, I'd say Rebels outrank the Imperials; the A-Wing's smaller profile gives it an edge over the TIEs. But if you're talking about selection variety...yeah, Imperials have more PvP-viable ships to choose from.
To return to the main topic of the thread, I got my AT-ST by grinding faction in DS. Very quick and easy. Rebels used to have it even easier with the Star Destroyer giving 500fp a kill, and being easy to destroy due to the blind spot. I heard it's a lot tougher now though, so that might not be an option. Anyways, Kessel is a close second for FP grinding, but if you can go overt and get into DS, it's very quick FP. If only they'd let us freelancers go overt and still be allowed into DS...

You'd think thats true, but the Empire has a trump card to play that defeats the A wing, and swings the balance of power in favor of the EMpire..
That trump card, is called the Tie Oppressor.

Is that possible? It sounds rediculous but Ive seen a few ppl on the boards claim to do it and it just boggles my mind. Ive tried going overt in space and usually get fp no faster than on the ground so around 1k per hour.
Anyone know what the trick is?

It all depends on:
where you hunt
What you hunt
how kind the spawn gods are to you that day
how well equiped your ship is
how good a pilot you are
weither or not anyone engages you in a fight.
I can tell you this much for certain
B wings gave me 59 FP per kill
xwings about 40ish FP per kill
THe juciy bits are gunboats, rebel gunboats award 191 fp per kill and take on the average 30 seconds to kill.
Gunboat formations in deepspace is what i like to go after, but it all depends on the spawn and how often i have to fight off the fighter escorts (which also award FP).
On one of my better days, inside of an hour i killed 6 to 8 gunboat formations, lightly escorted. Thats about 18 to 24 gunboats. thats 3438 to 4584 FP, thats not counting the fighters i killed, just GB's alone.

9k fp an hour? wow thats fast, I'd say its impossible solo but if you got a few good aces then you could probably get to it. I can get about 7k in 1.5/2 hours and thats just doing duty missions.

Well I didnt go pilot to pvp, I did it for the YT as it was my all time favorite ship. But thanks for all of the advice.
As for the poster who mentioned doing duties for fp, who gives an imp duty mission?

Well thats the thing, FP and PvP are intertwined in space. You can't get one without the other. The only duty missiosn that i know of that spawn rebel ships are teir 3's out of rori station (which is about 4K FP an hour BTW), and an teir4 escort mission from the imperial inquistion. Both however you can only recieve as an imperial pilot. Offhand i dont know of any privateer duty missions which spawn factioned ships. At least no destroy missions that i know of.

Not really on my server, space is pretty dead at least when I play.
