Many of us repeatedly complained during the beta that this mission was too long and too difficult, but absolutely nothing was done about it.
I worked though the first objective, the second, the third. I came to the fourth and found myself smack in the middle of a Tier IV death festival. I actually made it to where the 5th objective appeared on screen, and what happened? The 7 or 8 Tier FOUR craft obliterated my poor Tier II TIE/IN before I could get away.
Come on. I can handle a Tier IV craft or three as a Tier II pilot, but 7 or8 of them? Without help from either a higher tier player or several comrades, this mission is completely unpassable. There was a three page long thread with people saying just that during the beta, yet it was completely ignored.
This mission is bugged and needs attention. It should not spawn Tier IV opponents at its next to last objective, when the player is likely weakest from their prior encounters. It should not be so long; it should be broken into two parts to reduce the amount of repetition if and when the mission is failed.
That I wasted so much time almost completing this mission and getting spaced right toward the end... I'm just livid that I've wasted so much time, and I'd really like to see this resolved. Soon.

We didn't get listened to in BETA and we won't get listened to in LIVE. You think this bad wait until you get to the hopelessly broken Tier 3 Mission 2. The third objective is to examine an Advanced Recon A-Wing, only problem is the waypoint is smack in the middle of 3 Tier4 pirates and when you arrive the A-Wing is never there anyway. I've given up on Imperial altogether, the missions are just awful and they're spoiling the game for me completely. I just went up to Tier3 privateer on another toon and it was an absolute blast!
If it helps, I feel your pain. I've smashed the sh1t out of a keyboard and tested the flight characteristics of a cordless mouse because of the stupid Storm Squad missions.

you guys are going to be S.O.L .when they do the combat revamp....the whole point is so you CANT solo the missions if you could solo all the missions yourself everyone would probably be masterand complaining that it was too easy and too fast now they have nothing to do, like so many masters i see already... and like the fact you dont even need the exp for tier 3 boxes isnt enough, with that point aloneI think the toughness of those teir 3 missions is worth it. I hope they dont fix this, cause its not a problem, just an incovenice to the solo players that dont want to look for some help. A problemI have noticed with these longer missions is that if you drop or your comp crashes, you get returned to the planet you took off from, causing the mission to fail, I was helping a friend with the exact same mission, Imperial Teir 3 mission 1, when he had a hard reboot about 5 secs later when he came back the mission was failed cause he was put back on lok, theyshould have some kind of save beacon half-way (on missions that have 4+ sub-missions), or make it so you can leave the sector without failing the mission in case of crashes etc

i did tier 3 mission3 with a friend. he was only 2-1-1-1 but he drew away a fighter of two which gave me plenty of ease. Tier 3 mission 4 (last mission).....i have yet to beat. you have to disable an uber nova, but its weapons can still hit you for insane damage sou hvae to disable both weapons too. then, u have to go destroy the same uber nova but it is being escorted by 8 x wings. now, i dont know if this is evn the end of it, and before this you had to take on a squad of xwings and escort a shuttle through 8 waves.

This is not to brag, cause it was a giant pain the a$$, but I managed to solo Storm Squadron Tier 3 Mission 1 in my little Tie/in after about 5 tries at it. Yeah its hard but not impossible. There are some rundowns by players in the boards here and Ive found they help alot. Its all about tactics.
I will agree that missions like SS Tier 3-1 should be segmented so that you get credit for what youve managed to do so far. Getting an official objective and completing it fair and square should not be negated because you failed on something 4 new objectives later, on missions that were "unexpected". That is just stupid.
If the official objective of the missionthe pilot trainer gave youis completed on a given mission you should get the credit for it right then and there. Then the extended mission objectives should count for extra kudos or something. Its heartbreaking to get through so much of such a tough mission only to fail it all around because of some stupid static tier 4 spawns that your mission target pulled you through.

try to get better equipment for ur ship and just practice a bit. tier 3 IS soloable... i'm doing it fairly well me thinks at 3/3/2/2. It is hard yes and long and all w/o breaks but doable none the less.
but my major bone is how in all the storm squad tier 3 missions it's like a series of 5 mini-missions and takes like 90 minutes non-stop to do; and if you screw up anywhere u have to do the ENTIRE THING over again... so that's just bullox...

About the tier 4 spawns... when you complete your objective and have to meet the shuttle(the last part) jump out.

Well, I've made it to 3/3/3/2 solo, right now I'm stuck on the last mission.
I can get to the first Nova, and disable it and dock ... but after that I pretty much have no armor left and can't finish the second Nova.
Interestingly I just solo'd my privateer alt from 2/2/2/2 to 3/3/3/3 and now I need to grind out 1 mil exp to start into the tier 4 boxes ( my storm squad Imp has 1 mil exp banked just from trying and failing the first 3 tier 3 missions). Did all of the privateer corsec tier 3 missions in just 2 or 3 hours solo. The only somewhat difficult one was the third where you have to destroy a gunboat that jumps right on top of you. Think it was tier 3, but it went down easier than those Nova's, especially with a Khimigola ... 3 heavy guns and still manuverable enough to take out all the fighters.
I only wish the TIE bomber wasn't a flying floating brick. It would be soo nice to actually be able to use more than one weapon.

I agree with this thread starter. I am all for some of the high end content requiring a group but you should be able to master your profession without being forced to group. If I had to group to take out my marks in the Investigation branch I would have never mastered BH.

don't disable the ships when defending anything. wound 1 of the ships in each wave to the point where they no longer pose a threat. (DO NOT USE [ TO TARGET A COMPONENT, do it by eye). with the constant waves out of the picture, you can worry about skirting the tier 4s that the transport seems to like to fly through.
while it's possible to solo this mission i don't recommend it.
however, with 1 friend this mission becomes very doable, and if you can't get it done then your skills need a bit of work. don't take that as an insult or a slight, it's not meant that way at all, it's just that many, many people have passed this mission before you, some with help, some with no help and the mission hasn't changed since then.

This is bullcrap , Im in a tier 2 ship with very good componets, the trainer wont train me untillI finish this missionI suppose... which puts me in a very difficult position {mission 1 tier 3 storm squad} asI finished the 4th part of it but the tier 4 ships just tear into me after the frieghter escape's. The data pad im suppose to collect for the 5th part is just to far away for me to reach before they kill me....
I would like to do this alone, but i really cant add any componets until im trained and can't get my new ship {interceptor tier 3 ship} until then , whats even worse is that im capped on xp...
So my only option is to get some help which is a b*tch& a half
My trainer only mentioned the first mission not these extra 4 quests w*f....
Owell from reading what you guys went thru looks likeI wont get any help from the devs and my only recorse is to get help from other people.
Seems that the tester's either didn't do their job or the devs didn't listen to them either way I'm screwed ....thanks for all the input.
Yours truely
