I had an idea that probably has been had by someone else and mentioned previously but I felt like sharing.

Since space PVP is over so fast and so sparse :

How about having space flight simulators in cantinas. They would be balanced specifically for PVP so regular space combat would be unaffected

Players would join either a faction battle or free for all. Freelance would choose a faction when joining but still use freelance ships.

Players could choose 3 generic faction ships that are all pretty much the same. Like Light, Medium, Heavy fighters.

Could have all kinds of fun things in the game that wouldn't seem right if they were in space.

Could be a ladder ranking system for top pilots.

Instanced arenas with limited amounts of players. Players could wait in queue to enter so when one match ends others can join.

Free bump and a story =)

Back in the 'old days' of West End Games paper-and-pencil RPG for Star Wars, my GM made up an 'arcade' game called Space Jock. Basically, we could go into the 'casino' and fight against each other (and high-ranked npcs) to get the best scores, and won money accordingly...unlocked new ships, etc. Was a great way to 'test out our piloting skills'.

I think it would be neat to do that.
