ok, so i, as a freelancer, can go declare imperial, and earn FP and attack rebel player ships. even without declaring, i can aid my imperial pilot guildie friends with their missions.
however, they can not aid me at all in my missions when they involve attacking imperial ships. this makes it somewhat difficult to get help when much of my guild are imperial pilots (we're imperial on ground). is there any way to get them to be able to help me with these missions? like declaring neutral? on leave in space maybe?
thanks for any help.

>>my -5000 Rebel faction might have something to do with it.
Faction points do not effect standings in space. Its very simple really.
Even though theres 3 professions, theres really two types of pilots:
1.) factional pilots - Military pilot in the Alliance or Imperial Navy
2.) Neutral pilots - Privateer.
For a factional pilot, the opposite faction is always red (hostile) to you. You are always a "combatant". Kinda hard to be otherwise, when your flying a military ship, ya know?
For a privateer, all factions are yellow (neutral) to you. Your flying a private ship, not a military one. You can be whatever ground faction you want, and you can still kill (or be killed) by any faction in space. All bets (neturality) are off when you go Overt. Overt in space is much like old style Overt on the ground except there are no tefs. Your either overt, or your not. Just FYI, in the past there's been a bug with privateer ships where the last faction they fought under "sticks". Only way to fix is to redeed that ship.
For a factioned pilot, all overt means is being PvP enabled as everything else is usually hostile anyway.

I was being silly with the thing about the faction, actually
Good writeup all the same.
Oh, love the corvette guide by the way, I added it to my bookmarks, I'll be with an Ace (at least one! Rather not be alone and having others around who've done the task before is an advantage I can't pass up) when I do the Rebel corvette, but that info's still invaluable. Great guide.

Not to my knowledge, I do know if I accidentally target an Imp ship, I get this awful buzzing noise. Once an Imperial, always an Imperial, I figure. I do know there's no such thing as 'on leave' for me in space, if a Rebel gets close enough, they attack. 'Course, my -5000 Rebel faction might have something to do with it...
This is going to sound sacriligeous, me being an Imperial and a Major at that...but, if your mission involves attacking Imperials, have you considered asking *Rebel* pilots for help?
