I thought a few things were fixed in beta, but playing today as a privateer just starting out I see that they weren't.
Top/bottom invulnerability still exists. While I haven't seen a post suggesting that it was fixed I was hoping this would have been taken care.
NPC ships dodging like crazy. I don't mind having to chase an NPC ship, but they should not be able to actually "twitch" in space. It looks like they're about to spin in place, but suddenly stop. Does this make it tricky? Yes and tricky is good, but the extent that they can do this is confusing and combined with top/bottom invulnerability it makes them very hard to destroy especially when even leading ships you can barely do any damage.
Can't damage ships while leading. I touched on that earlier, but I wanted to give it special attention. With top/bottom invulnerability, starter ships not having boosters or missles, the only option I have is to lead them and that doesn't work right 100% of the time. Meanwhile these ships are apparently fast enough to get on my 'six' because my starter ship engine has a max engine speed of 394 which is inferior to their ship engines (keep in mind I'm taking on the second mission given to me by the Tatooine privateer trainer).
-----------------------------------------------
I know this doesn't necessarily have to do with JTL, but can we absolutely do something about the lag on the ground? I was really going to ask for the privateer trainer to be moved to Mos Espa since Mos Eisley is crowded enough with the forced starting point being there, but I landed in Mos Espa after being blown up in space to get away from the lag. I ended up lagging completely through the walls of the starport and had to take a trip around the starport to get to the entrance.
I made it to the entrance and apparently was overt (Something else I thought was fixed as per the update notes). I was attacked by the green con stormtroopers which made quick work of me while I was frozen in mid run (Ela enchanted anyone?), slain, and cloned. I didn't even bother waiting for the game to load me in the cloning center. I alt-tabbed and used ctrl+alt+del and shut the game down that way out of disgust. I can't believe that I built my machine for this game specifically and I still have to deal with the incessant annoyance of lag in a city as unpopulated of PCs as Mos Espa. Please do something about the lag or buy me enough memory so I can upgrade from 512 to 2gb.
It's been over a year already.
