Hi I thought itis unfair that you when u activate auto-pilot in a mulitplayer ship as soon as you leave the pilots chair it disengages. Wouldn't it be great to have the ship travel to a destination while you can walk around your ship? Be great to have parties on the yacht/other MP shipsand see the sights of the sector, im sure this would encourage more people to be up in space entertaining, crafting etc.

Please comment on whether this would be a good idea and any potential problems this might cause.

I think it's a good idea. I think the only problem with it would be the drama it will create when people start putting their Novas, Decimators, and YT-1300's on auto pilot and get nuked by NPC's or players while they're roaming around their ships. It'll go from give us autopilot, to make us immune to attacks while on autopilot, to nerf the autopilot haxxors using it to avoid PvP lol.

"Basically, once you see the inner workings of the Dev team you realize their game model is really just grind and stall. Make the players grind and grind so they keep paying and when there are problems stall stall stall so they keep paying waiting for fixes. Really...all the cores that quit recently are the ones that have figured this out."

Well you can Hyperspace without being at the controls. Just need to start the jump sequence then you can get up and walk aroud. The ship will jump when it has completed the nav calculations/countdown.

The easiest answer to that is to just ask them "What the hell were you thinking was going to happen when you decided to have absolutely no one controlling your ship? All the TIEs that were following you magically transforming into a whale and bowl of flowers?"

I like it the way it is. An MP ship is meant for more then one person so why not require the pilot to be there while flying around the galaxy while his passengers roam? What is the advantage? You can still have parties on theYachts and you don' t need to be moving to being having that party. So, leave it as it!

Inregards to being attacked while Autopilot is engaged... ah man the turret(s) would be a the logical step if you are just going from A to B. Isn't that why we have turrets? Just a thought.

I know there were several instances of the falcon flying on what seemed to be auto-pilot.

What I'd rather see is that ANY master pilot can fly ANY MP ship.

You would still not be able to own anything other than what your faction allows you to own,
but if you were in an MP ship you should be able to fly it.

My only gripe about ships is that we can't have more 2 seaters, I'm a privateer pilot, I wanted to start flying commercially for RP purposes, but the only possible way for me to do it is to simply grind my butt up to Master Pilot. I mean its really not fair when you think about it, commercial pilots aren't combat pilots, its a heck of alot harder to fly a fighter than a boeing 747 jet.. It just doesn't make any sense.

Yeah - If you look at A New Hope, Chewy is playing holochess with R2 and Han comes in and starts a discussion with Ben and Luke regarding the force. Who's flying the Falcon???

When they get close to thier destination (Alderaan) a waning beep goes off and they head to the cockpit.

Why can't it work like this in SWG? After all this is a MMORPG, why does the pilot have to be excluded from the fun going on in back because the ship won't fly on autopilot without his butt glued to the chair? Kinda dumb.

I really want this. If you fly alone on any MP ship and get attacked your only option is fleeing. IF this will be implemented, I will set it on autopilot and will jump to the turret.

Well, following your logic, we should at least be able to put our yachts on autopilot. They're not going to get attacked at all. On a side note, I don't understand the point that someone else made about it being a multi-player ship so someone has to be at the controls. That makes no sense to me. If I have a party on my yacht, I'd like to get up and join the action while having the ship still move. You're telling me they don't have autopilot in the future?

But as to your underlying argument about getting attacked while your ship is on autopilot, I disagree. First of all, this will only happen with player attackers if you are in a factional MP ship and if you are declared. If you're declared, you have to operate under the assumption you could get attacked _ even if you're at the controls. And if you are declared and you're away from the controls, you'll need to scramble your crew to the turrets as fast as possible. That's true whether the enemies are PCs or NPCs.

I'm sorry, but I think these are just the chances you take when you go up in a MP ship _ especialy if you declare. To me, it's kind of exciting.

Plus, let's be honest. There's no real travesty that happens when your ship gets blown up. Repair costs are pretty cheap, really.

Theres no real reason not to impliment this. We can start a hyperjump and step out of the controls - why not this?
