Hey guys!

I hope you can help me. I'm am having a very difficult time killing anything in space. I'm a 1-1-1-1 rebel pilot. I decided to dump my crappy Z-95 and buy a Y-Wing. I went out with it and got killed just doing my duty missions :/. I then decided to deck it out with new weapons, engines, shields, ect.. Same thing pretty much. I mean It is taking forever to just kill one Tie fighter so by the time I finally kill 1-2 ships the duty mission has failed. I noticed another thing. My Y-Wing can hold2 weapons but, only 1 weapon will fire. The other one will not. I double checked to make sure that it was actively grouped but still nothing only 1 weapon will fire. I havea ION and Disrupter... Is there something wrong that i'm doing? It's really hard to kill the tie's since even with a good engine I bought its still slow.

Thanks

The regular Y-Wing requires a second pilot to fire the second gun. Switch back to a Z-95, buy a level 3 gun and a level three shield, and use that till you get 2-1-1-1. Once you get 2-1-1-1, grab a Y-Wing Longprobe. It can fire both weapons at the same time. You'll loot better parts as you get ahead. The Y-Wing Longprobe can hold pretty much anything up to Tier 4.

Awesome man ty! One thing is that I'm using the free Z-95. Should I buy a player made one? I'm having a Mass issue as just about anything I try to upgrade on it is way too heavy for it.

Your free one can get you all the way through Tier 2 depending on if it's the hyperdrive equipped version or not. The player made version is better though. It has more mass. Plus, the weapons and shields you can put on it will be better. You shouldn't bother with armor for a Z-95. Just don't let them get through your shields.

Hi Sin,

You got good advice on sticking with the Z95 until the Longprobe. Some other general fighting tips:

1. Me personally I stick with the 'Blaster' type weapons that have average penetration to both Armor and Shields. Good all-purpose guns.

2. Change speeds often in a fight. You are more maneuverable when you slow down a bit. For a Y-wing you need to be at about 50-60% of your maximum thrust to be the most maneuverable. For a Z95 it's a bit higher, try 75-80%. Being able to turn quickly to keep up with opposing ships is vital. I set up a couple of macros: /throttle 0.60 and /throttle 1.0 and bound then to a couple of easy-to-access keys.Your throttle will generally rise and fall faster usingmacros thenit will pressing up-up-up, down-down-down on the keyboard...If you get a player-made ship you can hopefully find space to fit a booster. Using a booster for a quick shot of speed is a nice way to catch up to a fleeing foe without having to manually adjust your throttle upward. Once you disengage the booster you'll fall back to your "maneuver mode" speed (50%-75% whatever that is for your ship) and be ready to dogfight.

3. Don't be too fixated on blasting the guy in front of you if another one (or two or three) is hitting you from behind. Turn often in a fight and the AI ship won't get a chance to plant themselves on yourbutt and get easy shots on you. You can take on much greater numbers of bad guys by always "turning to face your accusser" in this way.

4. Be sure to make use of yaw, pitch AND roll in a dogfight. Not sure if you use a mouse or joystick, but I find that using healthy amounts of Roll (which are bound to the keyboard on my setup), means I jerk the joystick around alot less, meaning I can devote more time and energy to fine tune my aim on the target.

Aside from that is just getting used to aiming at targets. The green target lead indicator is a guide only, not the gospel. Draw a line between the ship and the green target lead box. Most of my hits land when i fire somewhere between 50% and 75% of the way along that invisible line toward the lead indicator. Kill a few hundred ships and you'll develop the instinct on where to fire on that invisible line given their distance, heading, speed etc.

As you level don't be afraid of jumping into the world of Astromech droids and Droid commands. I don't have alot of experience with Rebel commands (shield overload etc), but I can tell you the Privateer and Imperialdroid commands are where it's at. Try and beg borrow or steal the following from vendors or Privateer/Imp pilots: Engine Overload, Weapon Overload (especially WO3), Capacitor Overload, Capacitor to Shield Shunt, and Reactor Overload.

There's always exceptions to rules, but generally: Missles seem to suck at lower levels, don't waste too much mass on them if you can fit a bigger gun, shield or engine instead. I never bothered with Chaff launchers either, but in PvP (which I haven't done much of), I can see them being really useful.

I found that player made Weapons, shields, armor and reactors were really good (until the highest levels). While looted Capacitors, boosters and engines are still the way to go. Droid interfaces...I think player made are fine nowadays. I use *ahem* Level 1 interfaces from back in the golden age. Just remember the lower the speed number, the better the interface.

Hopefully some of that helps out,

How can a rebel use imperial/neutral programs?

Every pilot can use droid commands from another faction as long as they hold the same level that the command is for. It's just a matter of finding a kind pilot to swpa the chips to you.

A player made Z95 will only really have 1k more mass than the freebie, so it's up to you whether you switch. As a Rebel I recommend using a Disruptor vs your most common for, TIEs. They have no shields and Disruptors are great vs armor.

Honestly, don't bother with a droid, or out of faction programming until you have finished tier2. Its such rapid advancement, that buying a droid just to replace it in a day or two seems a waste. I only get droids of FC at tier2 and at tier4, then again for mastery.

Another thing to consider is dropping your armor in favor of a better shield. Armor, especially the prototype stuff, is heavier than it needs to be oftentimes, and does not regenerate like a shield. Try to find a good crafted, L3 shield and Disruptor, and build your ship around those.

Actually you don't have to be a level to perform them... you just need to be able to fit them in your droid or flight computer. I have a friend that wanted cap to sheild 4 he only had cap to shield 3...

needless to say the flight computer he had could only hold the cap to shield 4 and one other command he lost all his other commands he wanted.
