Thread: Storm Squadron Tier 3 Mission 3 Question

Umm... what do you have to do to succeed on the part where it says 'Destroy Four Waves Of Rebel Fighters' (Decoy Shuttle Escort)?

Jeez this is so annoying... the whole mission is easy. Survival is a piece of cake and then the game throws wave after wave after wave of tier 3 fighters at you which are easy to fight since they focus on the shuttle.

However, I always get a mission failed message after several wavesabout how I haven't done enough to make it look real enough.

W-T-F? I just scrolled up and the game threw 9 (yes NINE!) waves of fighters at me. I must have killed at least 40 reb ships within about an hour and then I get 'haha you failed'(???). Not happy here... AT ALL.

Anyone have any advice for this part of the mission, please? Should I actually leave the enemies alone for a while and let them do damage to the shuttle to make it look more real? What gives?

OK, just read on page 36 of this forum that you have to get 'No enemies detected' four times (i.e. kill a wave before the next one spawns). Can anyone confirm that?

If this is true then congrats on a crappy mission, devs.

How are you supposed to kill a wave quickly if you get stuck in laggy mode where you can't do damage to a target until the game resets you? This can take quite some time. Sometimes you get reset real quick but sometimes it takes up to a minute or so.

This bug is effectively preventing success on this particular mission if the kill a full wave before a new wave spawns stuff is true.

Also, how about fixing the time between the waves? It's not consistent. Some waves come shortly after another so it's impossible to have killed all ships from a previous wave.

This is BS. This part of the mission is easy but gated by stupid bugs. Bah... .

Agreed. I'm not too impressed with that mission. Just killed 47 enemy in 13 waves...what a joke.

It even occured to me that I might need to kille'm all before next wave but the next wave spawned everytime I got down to the last fighter, Grrrr.

Now I don't mind a challenging mission BUT ...An hour to get to a point where you need to get about 20 good, clean, FAST kills in a row? That seems a bit much. I realize it would go faster with a wingman but they aren't as abundant as one might like to think. Even fewer are the ones that have an hour to give.

I know it's been said in a few threads already but I'm gonna say it agian anyway.

Tier 3 missions are way too long. Break it down abit..give us a chance to tinker with our ships and get a cup of coffee fer cryin out loud.

Also would like to see the training available when you have the xp. That alone would certainly take care of the kill rate problem.

Any confirmations on whether "clearing the whole wave" is the answer to this mission?

I went through this mission with a mate with no problems at all. I believe I did get the "No more enemy fighters detected" message 4 times. It is possible that you need to destroy one wave before the next one comes, but I don't really know.

Edit: I would recommend a wingman for all these missions anyway. Most ppl who I have come across who are doing Tier 3 are more than willing to give up an hour of their time aslong as you do the same for them. Several members of my guild got through Tier 3 in the same day with all of us just helping eachother out

I've finally done it now with two wingmates and it does not seem like you have to kill every single fighter of a previous wave (we did the mission 2x last night). We did occasionally have 1 reb fighterleft (but mostly killed them all before the next wave).

However, you know you are on track when the shuttle sends you a message saying 'You're doing very well, pilot. Keep it up just a little bit longer and the rebels will believe we got some very hot cargo on board'. Not the exact message but paraphrasing. I guess if you don't get that message after the first two waves, you might as well abort and start over. I couldn't tell ya what *exactly* it is that leads to getting that message though. It's pretty confusing and inconsistent since we also got it with one fighter left from an earlier wave.

I would reallyrecommend to group for this mission. The decoy escort is not the final stage, anyway, and the last parts of the mission do bear some danger (Nova cruisers). Must be really bad to succeed on the decoy and then getting shot down later. Grab one or two wingmen, then get the mission solo (ungrouped) and group right before you launch into space. The mission will be very easy then.

Can you guys provide me with a little advice on Mission 3 for Tier 3 Storm Squadron? I've gotten to the point whereI need to kill waves of fighters but, after killing a huge bunch of them, it tells meI suck and fails the mission [okay, I'm paraphrasing here].I don't think any members of prior waves ever LEAVE and I keep blowing them up... [and it keeps saying "excellent, I'm so happy -- the rebels are so dumb" [ok... paraphrasing again]] any thoughts? Do I just need to kill them FASTER?? Thanks!!
