Thread: Ship Component Explanations
Is there a thread or page that has detailed explanations on what each stat for the various ship components do?
Many are self explanatory, but a few I find myself wondering what is going on *what does this do?* *is the recharge rate better higher or lower?* etc etc.
Help would be appreciated.

OK, but I still don't get the weapons damage vs shields and vs armor.
A disruptor has a high weapons modifier vs armor. So does this mean that it actually bypasses the shields and hits the armor? Or does it mean that it does very little damage at all until you get the enemy's shields down?
The Ion cannon seems intuitive enough: It damages the shields aplenty, but after the shields are down it just slowly damages armor.
Seems to me for a newby (which I am) that you want to just go with a blaster, which is more balanced-unless perhaps your mission is to disable something (but even then you've got to destroy the target's screening force).
Can somebody name a situation where you would actually want a disruptor? Are there actually very many enemies with weak (or no) shields but tough armor?
TIA!
Simply because a disruptor/ion cannon does more damage to a certain component (shield or armor) then a blaster would do.

While most likely you wont want one if your ship only has one or two weapon slots, but the higher in tier you go, the more valuable disruptors/ion cannons will become when taking out an enemy. A ship with an ion cannon and a blaster or two can be pretty mean.
