Thread: switching starship weapons
The answer lies with both the {G} menu (weapons group) and your key mapper. If you want to have them fire with different keys or joystick buttons, you have to first put them in different groups on the weapon groups screen. Then you have to have seperate keys or joystick buttons set up to fire the different groups. Personaly, I switched my joystick buttons so that button 1 fires my group one, (my group one is just about everything except my missiles and tractor beam ). Button 2 fires group 2 (my low cost/where did my capacitor energy go? weapons group). If I'm mining this where I put my mining laser. Button3 has my missles in group 3, and button 4 handles my tractor beam.
Also, be aware that your mining laser can dent ships too. The lvl2 one you get is not too shabby.
It might be easiest for you to just put them all in one group, then you never have to change.
Also, are you running droid programs? If you're running out of capacitor, cap overcharge is your best friend. you can fire all day long without problems.
