I'm a bit disappointed that as a pilot of a Decimator I cannot use /bomberstrike or my droid commands.
It seems a bit excessive to me, requiring a dedicated "Ops" station to handle those. I can usually do alright finding two players to gun for me, but droid commands are only something I want to change in the middle of a fight very rarely.
It doesn't happen often enough to ask somebody to come sit in the chair and watch us fight on the off chance I might need to change my shield bias.
In addition, I now have /bomberstrike3 but I've hardly used it because I've been flying my Decimator. Helping a friend with a mission I had to stop the ship, get up out of the pilot's chair and sit down at Ops, call in the bombers, then get up and back to the pilot's seat again. Does this seem a bit silly to anyone else?
I think it would be great if there were some ADVANTAGE for having an Ops officer, such as reduced delay time on your droid commands or specials. For example, the pilot might have an increased delay time (because of... er.. leaning over a foot to the right and pressing a button instead of pushing it in front of you) but the delay would be improved if you had a dedicated Ops officer.
Any thoughts?

My repair/loot manager also runs the ops station for me. It's actually one of the most active jobs aboard my ship. Of course, he's Master Doc/Shipwright...so he's RE'ing all the time.

Personally, I thought the pilot should be able to do the specials as well as the ops person. But droid programs should be all Ops Chair.
What I really don't like is the inability to get a cross-faction Ops person in the chair. As in a Privateer cannot sit in a Rebel MP ship's Ops chair, but can runa turret. Doesn'tmake sense to me. You could in beta and it opens up another option.

My thoughts... I would jump at the chance to bethe co-pilot on an MPS. I'm burntout on piloting one man ships already, and would love to fly shotgun. But I've also beenonline alot(pilot/SW) since JTL release, so I'm burntout earlier than some on single seaters.
I think given time, you will find more ppl who have tired of single seaters, tired of piloting, waiting one day to serve a different role on board an MPS.
I think.. that it is too early though to see many willing ship mates becausemost players haven't gotten their fill of being inthe pilot seatyet,. I myself have gotten my fill of pilotingand am ready for something else.

Agree. I can see a co-pilot being helpful in big fights with tons of things going on, but space battles aren't quite epic enough to justify that extra person.

I agree it's silly that a different faction can't sit at Ops. I can see preventing them from using their faction-based specials, but at least let them sit down! At least let them hit the droid programs.
As I mentioned I understand that the Ops chair is designed for droid programs, I just honestly can't see asking anyone to come sit in my ship and watch us fight for an entire battle on the off chance they may need to do some droid programs.
When I want to do bomber strike, I have to stop the ship, get up out of my chair, sit down on the chair next to me, call it, then get up and sit back down again.
I mostly set up my droid commands at launch, so I have one of my gunners do it while we're not in combat. Then she moves ninto the turret. If I was in a battle and wanted to hit my "Shield Front Bias" droid command real quick, I'd be out of luck. But it's not like I would ask somebody to come and just sit in my ship and watch us fight on the off chance I will need to do that!
It's silly. My idea of a better way is that both Pilot and Ops would be able to use specials and droid commands, but the Ops chair would get BENEFITS doing it. The command delay would be reduced, or the delay would increase for the Pilot. Something to give a real solid advantage to having somebody there.

They should allow DE's to create robotic crew members, maybe make them higher maintenance, there should be some disadvantage to using droids as crew mates, maybe they react kind of slow, but there should be that option.
