I don't see why not. There's no decay with ground PvP, and should be consistent.

For the record, I won't PVP if there is decay.
It's bad enough you burn through an entire chassis trying to complete storm tier 3's, I don't need to burn through another from PVP'ing.

I agree wholeheartedly with the original poster. Removing or at least seriously reducing such atrocities will encourage PvP. And for the PvPers and everybodythat should be a good thing.

Keep PvE decay as is.. because your fate is much more in your hands then being vaped by someone you didnt even know was there. It also happens less frequently.

The point is to have fun, not ruin someones chassis.
I think this point is missed too often.
In a game not centered around PvP removing decay is a huge push for PvP.
PvP is fun, but many don' tlike watching thier ships pay the price for it. This would be a great way to add to PvPers in space. I don't see that as a bad thing at all.

The devs are tweaking PvP to be a bit more enjoyable (tho I think they need to cut damage by another 2/3 or more), but I think there's something else to think about. Unlike ground fights, space fights will turn into a massive expense--really massive. PvE, you can run away from a spawn, hyperspace out, basically be a survivalist to keep your costs low. Deep Space has the potential to become a hotbed of PvP dogfights and skirmishes to decide the 'winner', but the ships will be decaying incredibly fast.
So, my thought is, remove decay from the equation in Deep Space and any other PvP zones. Perhaps lessen it? I imagine this would have to take the form of your ship being automatically restored to "Pristine" condition upon exiting either thru hyperspace or death, as it would otherwise be difficult to define what damage was done in Deep Space and what was not.
Thoughts?

PvP is extremely hazardous--in PvE it would be godmode, because your objective is to succeed at objectives, get loot, and not get killed--but in PvP your enemies are too dangerous, the 'wise' decision is to not fight if you're going to really consider it economically. That's why it needs something different--to encourage behavior towards teambuilding and competition among the only entities that can provide real challenge, as opposed to the 'puzzle' of decrypting AI behaviors, abilities, etc and then dealing with each one exactly the same. Godmode in PVP would be invulnerability--reducing or eliminating decay just takes it from "not worth it" to "time to play"

Agreed. Going overt in space should be rewarded with lesser decay than there is now. I'm not talking about ELIMINATING decay, just lessening it.
Of course, I've only died to someone once, and that was because I was moving at 214kph sneaking up on a gunboat the last day before Kessel went PvE. Now that I'm an Ace, I fly around Kessel overt all the time. Nothing ELSE to do...
