What do people think about implementing something where attacking the ISD or Rebel Base would send a server wide message to faction members (limited by rank?) to inform them that the base is under attack?
I just don't understand why Deep Space is so devoid of players right now. I have heard people declare that PVP practicioners are rare in the game, but I honestly don't believe that is true, I've seen battles where hundreds of players participated numerous times in this game. Part of it may be people don't know who is and who isn't in Deep Space at any particular time.
Could a system message be sent to say, all Imperial pilot aces or perhaps all Imperial colonels when the ISD is under attack (and vice versa for rebels, of course)? I realize this takes away the possibility for a surprise assault on the base or ISD, however Deep Space is not a PVE area, it's the only PVP area in the game and steps need to be taken to encourage players to come and play there.
Perhaps JTL is too new still, and in a few months the zone will be packed, but IMO the system messages would help stimulate PVP now, whereas the alternative is waiting and guessing.

How many master are there per server? My guild has 5 people ready to take out the vette, but we have no masters yet.

i know i see masters constantly on gorath. more imperial than rebel sure, but i've still seen a healthy contingent of rebel masters. is lack of masters really the problem?

On Intrepid at least there are plenty of Master Pilots. And I don't think this in any way removes the ability of a suprise attack by either side....When the station or ISD is hit, naturally they are going to radio for reinforcements. It will take time to scramble pilots to defend them, so it would allow for time to take it down in the meantime if the reponse is not quick enough. I think its a great idea, and I for one....

Lack of masters? No, more like lack of masters who PvP.

Yeah, it's possible. I guess I'm assuming many of the people who PVP would be proficient enough at flying so that they would have already mastered. Perhaps people are still preoccupied with helping other players finish their missions, but I still see many masters who do PVP in my friends list, they are usually not in Deep Space, I'd like to see more incentives to go there, and incentives besides the meager rewards you get for taking down a base.

That I agree with. Definitely should be better rewards for taking it down. Really, it remains to be seen. Eventually, we'll get a large group of both sides on offensive/defensive and see how it goes.
It's a bit premature to judge, really, and as more people master, and viable groups are more possible, then it'll come about.
Personally, I've been helping quite a bit on others' missions.

Ironicly, PvP will pick up now that Kessel is PvE. Why? Because now instead of PvPers waiting around to gank players going for Master, all those players will achieve Master, and begin to take part in PvP. Will it take a little bit of time? Yes, yes it will. But once Masters are no longer rare, you will see PvP being to pick up, as that's where the primary content is.
The simple fact is that without Master, PvPing is kind of absurd. The difference in damage between a Tech 8 and a Tech 9 weapon is enormous, and going up against a Master without access to all the equipment in the game is more or less a waste of peoples' time. I know I won't even bother with PvP until I get Master, because the dropoff is too great.
Now, personally, I think they should have moved the Corvette to another area and left Kessel PvP, but perhaps their reasoning is that there aren't enough PvPers right now to support two PvP zones, so this will at least cause all of the PvP players to be in one place? I don't know. I'm not a Dev. But once there are enough Masters to populate Deep Space at any given time, PvP will pick up.

I'm not sure if we do need better rewards, that certainly would draw people to the area, but I have the feeling it would draw a substantial amount of PVE people and they would just end up whining about something. No, I think the game needs to move away from tangible incentives to be there, and more into ways to encourage people to be there. I can't come up with anything that doesn't sound nebulous or trite, but things like server messages to remind players to come PVP, and other non specific GCW perks come to mind.
Perhaps a server message when a base is destroyed. "Rebel forces have destroyed the ISD!" perhaps that could be followed by a % faction point increase for all rebels that would remain until their base was destroyed. Little things like that, to just add a touch of spice without throwing anything out of wack. It seems to me that simple incentives like that would be easily added. It really is astounding to me that a game with no discnerable endgame save PVP is without them.

"All thos" players, eh? Heheh, get over yourself. There were tops 10 players who did that. That's maybe 1% of PvPers.
Personally, I PvP'd in Kessel, but was asked first ifI was there to PvP. I really can't go to Deep Space, as I PvP for roleplay, and having to pick a side effectively ends my roleplay.
