I have not played as a rebel pilot or an imperial pilot and I was wondering do your starter ships have hypredrives. I was told that the z95 did not have hyperspace ability. Is that true?

The starter ships that you are given do not have hyperdrives. However if you buy a Z-95 from a shipwright (or TIE Fighter, or whatever) they do have hyperdrives.
