My guild has every space faction, Rebel, Imperial and Privateer.
Sometimes we group and try and help each other.
Sometimes everyone can help and sometimes certain factions get the "bad sound" and can't hit the targets.
I am a Rebel and I know for a fact that I was on an Imp mission w/ my friend and I was killing Rebels with no "bad noise".
Last night I was on an Imp mission and I could kill all the Hutt faction fighters but I could not kill the Nym faction fighters?
So, who can I shoot?
Also, the Dev's need to make it so anyone can help anyone regardless.

As you describe it, it seems those Nyms belonged to other people's mission. Are you sure your group was the only one in that zone, do they returned fire to anyone in your group?
I don't think it was caused for faction reasons but group reasons.

No it was the second tier 3imperial mission. It involves hunting down a hutt fighter, disable, then escort, then fend off hutts (which I could attack)
Then Nym's come and try to destroy the escorted hutt ship, that's when I couldnt hit them (Im rebel).
Then it finishes off with a bunch of Nyms jumping in and a bunch of hutts juping in to fight one another, you need to make sure the hutts win and the nyms lose.
So, to answer you, the Nym's were part of my friends mission.

Then it seems like we need a proper explanation from developers of how factions and grouping interacts in space. I'm not an expert at this, and maybe someone has experience in multifactioned groups both in space and ground game.
Can someone help us? (yeah, I'm interested to
)

Well, maybe it does have something to do with ground faction, but why?

just write down what targets are white for you normally.
at least rebels and nyms should be white.
when you group with an imp friend your faction affiliation remains.
so youre still not able to damage any rebel targets you might encounter. the turn red when your group engages but you dont to any damage (and thus - dont get any XP or loot).
on the other hand you can destroy imp aligned targets like freighters that need to be escorted. you are grouped with the mission owner and the no killsteal rule doesnt protect the ship anymore.

RSF is the Neutral Imperial equivalent
Corsec is the Neutral Rebel equivalent
That's all I know for certain. It'd stand to reason (at least by MY reasoning) that smugglers could shoot anyone.

Here's the problem.
Between the DEV's, the community, the instruction manual (lol) and the Prima Strategy Guide, I don't think we'll get a straight answer.
All I know is, I am a Rebel who HAS killed rebels in the past with my Imp friend, and I can't seem to repeat the formula.

I still can't find out what the rules are for who you can and can't shoot depending on what faction you are and who you're grouped with...
