Thanks.....I'm pretty sure I can do this by myself (unless there are more unexpected surprises in this extremely unending mission). (I try to play solo, although I guess the devs sometimes encourage group action...maybe I can invite some pirates to intervene at this point.)
I got to where my three "replacements" arrived, and took out two of them before the third one got me. Assuming I have some countermeasures this time, I think I can survive the missiles.
Or maybe it doesn't end there. Are there more surprises to come in this (never-ending) mission?

It's been a long time since I tried that mission, I did it solo during beta so you should be ok, from what I remember the second will be a lot harder though, so you might need a wingman for that one. Witchblood Punishers can hit hard if they swarm you.

Rats! I'm in Europe, but play on an American server. There aren't always other people around when I am.

I went where maybe I should have gone in the first place, the FAQ at the top of the Pilot's Forum.
There it says that by completing these missions (which seem to be five missions or so strung together without a break) you get free box unlocks, without spending xp.
For one thing, it seems massively unfair to string the missions together on a "succeed in all or fail" basis. You do the first four perfectly and fail in the fifth, you ought to be able to get credit for the four, and just have to redo the last one, rather than having to do more than an hour of missions over again. (If nothing else, as a non-power player, I don't have hours and hours to play, and I paid for my game just like anyone else.)
(Otherwise there should have been a warning text on the box "Don't buy unless you can play for twenty hours a week" or something like that.)
But since it says under Control-S that Tier 3 skill boxes require 200k xp each, that brings back my original question. If you fail to finish the never-ending mission but do pick up 200 k in xp, do you get to train a box?

I just started Tier 3 as a Tatooine neutral palace, and had to return to Jabba's Palace. I've failed the initial mission (inspecting a Valarian freighter near Yavin, plus follow-up) several times now. The first two times I didn't understand the mission and ended too early. The third time I ran out of countermeasures and seem to have been taken out by a missile from my third (and presumely final) "replacement". So I'm not terribly worried about going back and doing this extremely long mission again.
But what I am wondering is what would happen if I managed to pick up the 200k xp necessary to unlock the next box without having finished that mission? Would I be allowed to, or would I be stalled until the mission is successfully finished?

From my experiance from the rebel missions is you HAVE to do the normal missions only Duty missions for xp are not required. I had xp to fill two box's when I last went to train but had to go and do a mission befor I could learn the second.

At tier 3 you have to complete the mission to get your next box, no grinding needed, try and find someone to be your wingman and you should be fine.
