It is a little tight on lvl's 1 and 2, I had to spend some cash to get started, but from tier 3 to at present 4/4/4/3, I have been making tons of cash. I do the search and destroy missions form my trainer, they pay bonuses for each sequence of waves, called 'wing', you complete, + faction + xp.The 'wing's' get progressivley harder, and pay more and more...and I have no problem taking them out if they wanna keep comming, and paying me too....bonus.

I make about 250k per night farming my "special" spots in Kessel that always seem to be full and buzzing with multifactional activity, thus meaning I get shot less. Since JTL I've probably made 10 million in credit chips and selling loot alone, of course, I've spent five of that supporting my "business." Seeing as solo grouping wasn't exactly my idea of fun, my income level was pretty much nonexistent. Making 250k+ per night where I used to be making practically nothing is huge.
I've easily gone over 30 million prestige since making Ace, and a nice ballpark figure would be probably 500 ships per night. I just recently bought a Field Hospital (the best base, IMO - pretty much all the amenities of a Detachment, but they're still 'small' enough to not show up on the map for spies to see as easily) for 40k after selling 5200FP to a Rebel, bringing me from 60,600FP to the mid 14,000s this morning. As of logging off just now, I'm about 15k from capping at 60.6k again. So yeah, JTL ain't bad.
In REed loot? My partner and I easily have 20-30 million (possibly even more) in top notch high-level REed parts in factories that nothing on the Eclipse trade forums has even come CLOSE to matching in quality (save a 12x.x L10 engine that was auctioned last week - we haven't beat that SPEED yet - we've beaten the maneuvering stats, though

And to add to what Starrwalker wrote, I also make a very decent amount of credits selling the loot (whatever I don't use, or sell to the Shipwrights) to the Chassis Dealer.

Selling loot to the chassis dealer is the key, also duty missions of course.

I'm currently on 4-4-4-4 Privateer (Smuggler's Alliance). I bought two Dunelizards (due to the mass changes), never used missiles or any crafted parts except one shield, and I have enough money just from JTL to buy two YT-1300 ships when I get the Master Pilot box. If anything, the amount of money coming into the economy from selling loot drops should be slightly lowered, as I think it's not really balanced with the amount of money wasted on JTL-related money sinks. After the Combat Balance/Upgrade/Revamp/Whatever, without moneymaking solo group missions and such, I'd say that the main cash-grinding will happen in space.
