Thread: A-Wing PVP Setup Questions
I'm working on my PvP A-Wing setup and this is the current configuration (a 1k mass capacitor with ~35 recharge rate is included in this setup). Since
i haven't done much PvP so far i've got some questions and hope to get the answers here.
1.) What is better for PvP?
Shields experimented on:
- hitpoints
- recharge rate
2.) As you can see, there's some room (6,5k mass) left for more equipment.
What would be better for PvP?
- decent front and rear armor
- a missile launcher + a low mass booster
Would be great if an experienced PvP'er could answer these questions

My personal setup would be:
Pre-nerf loot engine, RE'd to 95.9 speed, 8.9k mass (approx)
Shipwright Crafted Lvl 1 Reactor - producing 11k output and weighing in at 700 mass.
Shield's (lvl 6) RE'd down to 8.9k mass (approx), 1400 front and back shields, with a 12 - 14 recharge rate.
Guns would be lvl 6 or 8 (lvl 8 means missiles are a nono in my case) but 1700 - 2600 damage with .67 vs shield and .67 vs armour and 8.9k mass is good.
Armour - lvl 5 armour here, 3.3k mass 1k armour/hps (re'd again)
Booster - lvl 4 RE'd
Capacitor lvl 2 RE'd
Pre fix lvl 1 droid controller.
Buy a preprogrammed weapons overload 3 chip at least, but engine overload is good too. Oh yeah - don't forget normalisation.
Any space left over use for chaff/missiles. (Chaff first) Concussion missiles do fit the part. Give it a good coat of paint, texture 6 looks awesome, give it a good name too - name's always help.
You do NOT want to use L5+ armor if you have a tendency to have it get scratched a lot. It will decay like mad. Besides, if you're going PvP, armor's not going to save your ass at all, even with the recent 25% reduction.
Boosters? Find a MandalMotors M-Series or Novaldex Hypernova L4 booster (doesn't matter which one, they share stats). Then find around a 15x.x consumption rate L4, and one with as close to or under 3k in mass as you can possibly get. You only need one junker after that, because the two listed ones give yout 1980.0 power by default (they share the exact same stats) with better regeneration rates than you're EVER going to see in any other L4 booster, take up only 450.0 reactor power, and when REed, provide about 15.5 seconds of 264kph extra. Perfect for extricating yourself from problem situations in a hurry or getting out of someone's recticle. Paired with my 95.9 REed L6, I make 1508kph with this engaged.
These boosters, when you factor in the length of the burn, and the mass that can be achieved, make anything higher-level look like a gigantic waste of mass and power.
Seriously, when I spec a fighter, that puppy gets added on TOP of the engine and it's non-negotiable. Perfect for getting yourself out of a turret's range or making people wonder why the hell you're moving like a bat out of hell in a fighter with only 65k of mass to work with.

Reactor: 2k Mass 13,5k Energy
Engine:9.6k Mass 96 top speed
Shield: 10k mass, 1700front/rear, recharge 9,51
Front Armor: 3k mass, 600 ish a/hp
Rear Armor: 3k mass, 600 ish a/hp
Capacitor: 1.6k Mass 860 Energy 38.7 Recharge (RE'ed)
Booster: 3k Mass, 2k Booster Energy, 51 recharge and topspeed 26 (RE'ed)
Droid Interface: 500 mass, 14 droid command speed (not RE'ed becaue ...)
Weapon: 24k Mass, 3,9k Damage, 0.67 piericing to both , refire rate 0.389, 14.1 Energy/Shot
Ordenance : Mark III Concussion Launcher with 5.5k Mass
Countermeasure : Mark I Chaff Launcher with 1.1k Mass
Just launcher and chaff is crafted ... the rest is re'd..
Havent tested this baby in PvP yet but in PvE it works pretty damn well.. maybe too well hahaha..... As for PvP... would you risk to die and see components decay with a ship like that ?

Yeah, put the extra mass toward a micro-chaff launcher vs. the ground-floor countermeasure. Let others burn credits getting a lock on you because they can't hit a moving target for sh*t.
