...so do you all think doctor buffs will become pointless when in space? The space expansion could realy mess up the doctor buffing economy as there will be less peopel needing buffs, less people giving buffs, and less people manufacturing buffs. I think all the prices might skyrocket as it'll be come extremely rare to find docs sittign around and buffing once space comes out...
opinions?

There are always bad thoughts before something big, like the player cities for example. Don't worry though, the beta should straighten that out

I wouldn't worry about it. They have that you WILL have to go on planet frequently if only to support and upkeep your ship. I don't think that JTL will take away everyplayer from the ground. Also remember that by the time JTL comes out that there will be a total combat system revamp which includes a HAM revamp....so things might be a little different by then.

Um. what about leveling up and such? You can't kill stuff for exp in space, so people will still need them..

actually.. they are planning to release 4 more space proffesions, so you will probably have to level in space, and maybe it will still be necessary for buffs. Not to mention, most players will only use the space for transport and some PvP maybe- but im pretty sure it will just allow you to travel to planets more adventures etc. So people will surely need buffs to fight hard group mobs that are new

Why? There seems to be a misconception that the second the expansion comes out that 100% of the population will jump into space and never come down. I sure theres a few others such as me, who is looking forward to this expansion purely to get rid of the stupid 10minute starport wait.

You got that right.
That, and I want to be able to fly, decorate a ship, and carry other people.
I just hope I don't have to get a YT-1300 ... that wouldn't be any fun.

JTL will have an devestating impact to the whole economy and "ground" live
especially during the first 1 or 2 month when everyone will hang on in space and don t care anymore on planetary stuff
but i m quite sure people will be bored fast and hopefully return to the planets

But wait.....
It is stated specifically in the 'Big Interview' with Blackman and Torres that:
Professions: Four new professions. First the three pilot professions: Rebel Pilot (called Alliance pilot currently), Imperial Pilot, Basic Pilot (which Julio referred to as the Privateer/Smuggler Pilot - a non-aligned pilot class). Each of those three classes of pilots gets specific types of ships they can pilot. Skill points for pilot classes are separate from the standard 250 SPs for the terrestrial professions. They do not spill over, count towards or against, or otherwise impact terrestrial-based SPs in any way. This also means that anyone can be a pilot without having to worry about giving up terrestrial-based skills in order to earn piloting skills.
The fourth profession is the Shipwright. At present, Shipwright is a terrestrial-based profession, but it has not been decided if extra SPs will be added to the standard 250 to allow people to expand into this area or force people to drop existing skills to allow for this new profession.

So, this shouldn't effect the number of docs around at all.... At least we can hope this is the case.....
