I'm doing my missions outta talus..(black epsilon) so i wanna go overt and get fp everytime i kill a steaming pile of reb 
quesition...is there one? i flew to naboo...went overt, flew back to talus...but had lost my duty mission sice i'd left the sector...any advice?

Go to Naboo sysyemto get overt, talk to the Naboo Station and get a mission to blast rebels in Lok system.

are you recieving the mission from the ground or space station? If from the ground, after getting the mission use the travel option with your ship to fly to another system before going into space.

i usually hit up the imperial station 2 in endor space right before heading out to kessel/deep space as it is close by and very near the jump points, once overt from there you can jump to lok or whereever you are getting your duty missions to gain faction, but if you just want xp id hit up kessel, even at teir 3 the xp there is the best in the game and they give 50ish faction per regular ship and 192 faction per gunboat, the corvettes only give 92ish faction but completing the corvette mission gives 150faction so it balances out and makes it so aces wont just farm the vettes as they dont get much reward for them once they complete the mission.

I think the best solution for you it to get the mission, Travel (not launch) to Naboo, launch from there, talk to the Imp Station, hyper back to the Corellian System. If you launch from Talus and hyper out of system then yes, you will end the duty mission.
