Thread: Torpedo lock-on problem

Hi all,

I've got two characters. Both have a Mark 3 proton launcher. (Not identical, or made by the same crafter. Ammo for both is bazaar pickups from Coronet, mostly.)

When one character flies, he gets the missile lock-on tone, and the missile lock reticle made up of four triangles dancing around.

When the other character flies, he doesn't get tone or missile reticle. He can fire missiles with no problem, and simply getsa system message if he's not locked on yet.

I've combed through all my settings, and I can't find anything that's different that makes sense. (I doubt that the ui color palette between Alpha Blue and Destroyer is the culprit.)

The only things I can think of are that different factions have different missile lock methods, or that launchers or missiles have differences.

Does anybody know what's going on here?

Thanks!

If you ever find out, make sure to tell us here, I for quite a while search for a way to DEACTIVATE the lockon graphics and sound :-)

Have you tried resetting the weapon grouping to default?

No I haven't.

I'm pretty sure I've got a guns group, an ordnance group, and a countermeasures group. At least that's the way they seem to line up when I make a change.

I'll play with my groupings, including default, and see if that changes things.

Thanks!

Yes, as it turns out, ordnance does have to be in a group to give the lockon bleep and reticle. Mine had come out of group, which was hidden by my use of the "fire all ordnance" button on my joystick.

Thanks!
