I'm a 3332 Imperial Pilot working for the Imperial Inquisition, and I must say a few things about these story-driven missions.

I go to my superior Inquisitor, who gives me the mission to kill a certain General Brecklan, or something. This particalur general has an escort of 5-6 TIE Fighters, all lvl 3, and he himself is lvl 4. What I don't get is, I'm not even entirely lvl 3 yet, and I have to kill 5-6 TIE Fighters including a Lambda Shuttle alot more powerful than me.

Sometimes, though, I do happen to kill him, with all my missiles spent, and alot of damage to my ship. When I'm on my way back to the Dathomir Space Station, I get a message. What's this? A mission to defend a prison ship that involves a character from a previous mission. This is all right, I don't get killed everytime I get this mission, so I can handle this. The only real annoyance with this mission is, that I fail it if I fly a little away from the prison ship to destroy the nasty little X-Wings attacking it.

When the prison ship finally jumps, I get a new message. I have to fight a battle against the Rebellion. In this mission I get a little backup from some extra TIE Fighters, but they don't do much but deal a whole point of damage per hour. This is the least annoying mission in this group, actually enjoyable from time to time.

When I finally destroy all the rebel fighters, I'm on my way home thinking: "I just killed an entire rebel fleet, maybe I can get my ship repaired, or even my missiles reloaded." I get a new message. Yay, I get to destroy one of the Rebellion flagships singlehandedly. Words couldn't describe the joy I felt at that moment. This ship is harder then the aforementioned General Brecklan, with 3+ turrets positioned at various point all over the hull, and about 5-6 X-Wings, or whatever they fly.

I've never actually completed this last mission, but here comes my greatest annoyance; If I fail just one of these 4(maybe more) missions, I have to get yelled at by my superior, telling me that I failed in killing GENERAL FREAKING BRECKLAN.

I know it has to be hard to get to the master missions, but this is just silly. Why do I have to complete several completely different missions in a row.

Another thing that annoys me about the JtL system is, that alot of the time, I haven't found any actual use of the Space Combat Experience. I've used xp on one of my 3 lvl 3 slots, and at the moment I have almost 0,5 million experience point, and I need 200K to get the final lvl 3 slot. I really don't get why I can't train in the skills that I have enough experience to learn, but instead I am stuck in a series of mission that I can't complete.

I must apologize if I have offended anyone, but I am just angry because I've spent several days completing these missions. Even with the help of my friend Artemis, I can't seem to get these missions done. I've also asked in Coronet and several other mayor cities, but I can't seem to get any help whatsoever.

Might i sugest getting a group of fellow pilots and do the mission together. Getting more people into the fight gives the AI more targets to shoot at so you will not get beat up as much during the mission. Plus with a wingman they can take the attention of random npc's that attack you so you can finish the mission.

The other day i asked my friend who happens to be a master privater if he would help me with my teir 3 missions as we were doing one of the missions took us through a cloud of tier 5 ties. he told me to go on and continue the mission while he took care of the ties. which was benificial due to it was a destroy fleeing shuttle part, i belive.

Tier3 takes zero experience, its a mission gated tier. All your experience is being saved for tier4, which is a mission+grind tier. The segmented mission structure is the way the Developers of JtL added difficulty and variety. Would you really rather just Escort one ship for an hour and a half? Tier1-2 introduces you to the types of segments, and are pretty quick and easy, since they are 1 or 2 parts most of the time. Tiers 3-4 are strings of these segments coded in different orders, with different tools. Its actually a decent system, since it allows for pretty short turnaround and the ability to expand content without having to design new tools. Over 60 new missions have been added since launch, and thats not too shabby, since bug fixes and new items have also been coming too. Think of it this way, along mission string is still a heck of a lot better than 230 trips to the terminal, or landing to see your trainer after each mission.

i've done this mission, currently inquisitor pilot 4-3-4-4 try using more of your pilot abilities, bomber strike is good for creating a distraction..if you can call it against a valid target, weapons overload is a must and engine overload too if you have a big enough reactor that should give you more power and a bit faster speed and a friend or 2 is a must, i was able to solo everything up to the mothership but with a friend in tow and bomber strike we disabled the ship, i docked and got the mission done..

Patience my friend..if you cant find help and are on far-star (not checkedyour server tag ) give GunShark a shout sometime, i'll help you out.

My advice, get some friends, blow up a ton of ships, and have a barrel of laughs.

I remember some of my tier 3 missions for rebel vortex (down with the inquisition ) I had about the same trouble. Me and a few guildies made a night of doing tier 3 missions. We did a couple mine, got me suped up in a better ship. Did a couple of a friends, then anothers. Before long we experienced a ton of game content and we had a ton of fun.

Flying is a squad based system. A system where only the lucky get to go home and the last ones flying are the winners.

always use bomber strike, as stated above they distract the AI. Send BS in against the largest ship and the AI fighters will try to defend it, the large ship will target teh BS fighters and leave yo alone to plink away at it.

I always use Bomber Strike on the largest of the ships in order to keep the TIE Bombers in for as long as possible.

As for repairs, I take them as much as I can and today I made a grand discovery. At the Dathomir Space Station, if you click repair all you can only get 75% and you have to wait for more supplies. Instead of doing this, you can press Half as many times as you'd like until you're almost completely healed.

As I mentioned in the original post, I usually hunt with my friend. I've tried on several occasions to round up some people in Coronet, but I never find anyone who actually wants to go flying with me. This is probably because I'm on one of the small European servers.

Yep. It is extremely annoying. Especially the part about dividing the missions into sub-categories, which, if failed, can all collaps the entire mission.
The lack of training sessions during "plot missions" is also an absurd notion - even more so when the difficulty is this high.
Tomorrow we'll train me to your approximately equal level. Then we'll see how tough they can be.

I agree with the original poster even though my problem doesn't lie with the fact that the high lvl missions are not soloable as I see the reason for these missions being more difficult. What I do have a problem with is that these missions are VERY long. I mean two whole hours to complete one mission is a little much if you ask me. I know this is a MMORPG and we're supposed to have a lot fo time to invest into the game. But flying for 2 hours straight seems too long.

Right now I'm an imperialpilot 3322 and haven't flown in space for well over a month.

General tips.

Fighters:
Disable rather than destroy - it takes them out of the fight much quicker.

Lamda shuttle in a group:
Approach from their direct front..... disable them first, disable them quickly. Avoid flying behind one, draw fighters away.

Rebel Gunboats:
- Send in the bomber strike ahead of you so they take the heat first.
- Approach from UNDER and BEHIND the gunboat where he is blind and cannot hit you and take out his engine.
- Never engage fighters near a gunboat, draw them away.

Use droid commands:
Reactor overload 3, engine overload 3, capacitor overload 3, weapon overload 3, capacitor shunt to shield 4.

You might also want to get repaired at the space staion before heading to the next waypoint.
