Really. I liked the old RADARs, to be honest. The dual screens front and back, though this other "Wing Commander" RADAR is passible (I call it that since that's the first game I remember using a cone RADAR interface in this sort of game). I certainly miss the old targetting computer. Not just in the reticle, but in the selection display.
One thing it did that I found REALLY helpful was that when you targetting a ship, it would show you a representation of the model in the corner (like it does now in the top right corner witht he translucent blue model). The thing was, in XvT, that model would be oriented in the direction that it was facing in relation to your ship. So if an enemy was headed straight for you from 3K out, you could SEE THAT by looking at its model instead of tracking its range. The new way, they spin around randomly, and I find it distracting, more than anything else.
Anyone else miss the old HUD?

Yeah, I liked the XvT cockpits, especially the targetting computer. I was disappointed when I saw the dinky blue thing that just sort of spins around.

Amen. The worst thing for me is the new shield/armor display. The old double green/yellow/red/out interface could be read in peripheral vision. But this new empty semicircle arc requires you to take your eyes off the target and move down there. Don't know why they chose to reinvent the wheel with all these videogamey things, when they could have kept the honest 70's tech star warsy displays that already existed.
A real disappointment.
