Past few missions I've mentioned to my group that a voice chat would be wonderful addition to space based missions/combat. I'm familiar with the two programs in the subject and was wondering if anyone has tried using these or recommends another voice program.

Teamspeak is free, and easy to setup and use. And its free.
RW I believe you have to pay for, however I don't really know. Teamspeak uses a lot less resources, that I know for sure. Me personally, I'm partial to Teamspeak. Did I meantion it's free? I didn't think so.
Both work, but I like Teamspeak.

I've used a lot of voice programs out there (not all of them but most of them)....I must say that I found TeamSpeak to be the best overall.....it has been the clearest sounding one i've tried....but the best thing I like about TS is it's wide features and it can easily adjust to anyone's sound card......Plus it's 100% free and you don't have to worry about connecting to a public server....you can also run it and the server on the same cpu while you play the game.....providing your not on dial-up.....the bandwidth isn't demanding either...you won't even notice it's running until someone speaks.
The only downside that I found with it is for the technically challenged (those who just want to plug in and talk)....the interface and customization to optimize it for your sound card is a bit tricky and can be difficult to use.....and finding the right adjustments for your sound card and mic can be a pain....my first time using it all I could get was half the people on the server were clear and the other half were muffled or just a bunch of buzzing....but after I figured everything out and set it up right....I've never had a problem with in in the past 2 years.
Being an SuperAdmin of my own TS server for my Clan in another game that I play.....I simply haven't seen another program that matches everything TS has to offer.....especially the technical support.....most other voice programs don't have very good tech support.....programs like Roger Wilco don't even have support anymore....they have discontinued it and any future updates.....a couple others have fallen off in the last couple of years too.
however, everyone should try as many different programs that you can find....we all have our likes and dislikes.....so TS might not be for you......Game Voice is just ok and Ventrilo is a good one too and theres a few others with wierd names I can't even remember off the top of my head....but mostly they are just RW knockoffs.

Teamspeak all the way. Much clearer and more responsive than Roger Wilco.

Excellent! This was exactly the sort of feedback I was looking for! TYVM

Teamspeak is outstanding. My guild has used it in Planetside and SWG for almost 3 years. I've used it for many years in Raven Shield. And most importantly, it's Free. However I would recommend hosting it on your own server. You can use all the "free" you're getting to pay for hosting.

My team and I use Ventrillo, through Pure-Voice. It cost $10.00 per month for 15 users on a private channel. There is no noticable resource drain when in use. This makes "flying" a lot more fun. Try using a HOTAS system (throttle and stick) and typing at the same time. Someonecould die while I type "look out!!!"

If you are looking for something really simple and basic, try TeamTalk from www.bearware.dk.
Its extremely simple to use in my opinion.
