Think it might ever be possible to purchase a wingman from your recruiter? I certainly think an imperial officer of the line should be able to call in a wingman. I'm not really thinking anything hight level, say a tier 1 Z-95 for rebels and a tier 1 TIE for Imps. Much discussion in this forum has centered lately of the need for backup on some of the higher level missions. And yes, I must admit that grouping in space is a great deal of fun; but time and circumstance often don't allow such luxuries.
This might necessitate a formalized rank system for pilots though...so I'm not sure how feasible it really is. What do ya'll think?

Keyword here is "Faction". I suppose that perhaps Jabba or Nym might supply one of their more valuable pilots a little backup. I wasn't real sure whether to post this to the GCW forum or here...I chose here.

I would love to see this for all 3 professions. (privateer, reb, imp)
This would be a great benefit. If tweaked correctly, these could add a lot of immersion and fun while not making them overpowered. I think the correct way to do it would do it in a rogue-leader style, where you can give your wingman basic targets and commands.
For example, you can tell them to generally "attack" or you could tell them to attack a spefiic target. Or you could tell them to form up, or also return to base (which would essentially be "store"...they would just fly out of your sight. They could have maybe the difficulty of a tier 2 fighter, but though probably easy to defeat they would be cool to have and would give you some extra firepower.

IMO to keep a decent balance, they couldn't be "pets" as such, but hired for each specific mission and obviously have a high cost and faction point or prestige cost (at the higher lvls)too.
It would be easy enough to add an extra choice to the npc who gives the mission, offering help.
It would also give a squad leader feel to the game.... i can't imagine an imperial ace pilot who hadn't commanded a wing of ties.
