If we had player capital ships, that would rock. You would have to have a minimum of players to operate it because of its vastness. It could hold maybe 40-80 people. People could board it and fight and stuff like in the movies. It would be automatically overt, but this would cause a problem for the freelancers... Maybe if the freelancers had it it would make them attackable by everyone... like a third faction. They would have multiple stations and maybe a minimum of 10 masters per capital ship. This would be like bases in space, it would promote PvP in space. It would be all around fun. And maybe you could launch ships out of them like in the movies. This would be soo cool. I think they should add this... If you have any flames or suggestions, please post them I'd like to see what you have to say.

Yes, this is the first time this idea's been put forth.

It can't be done because the technology to support it doesn't exist yet. There's quite a large difference between an MP ship with two turrets and a full-fledged capital ship.

I'm always sarcastic. But the reason I gave is real - MP ships themselves are a feat of the coding - capital-class ships would be nearly impossible to implement now without pretty much rebuilding the code.

Well, that stinks... This would be really cool if they could. Imagine seeing a Jedi duel to the death on the bridge ofa Star Destroyer... just like in the movies.

They dont need to be huge, they could be 20 person, 4-6 turret ships, apprently SOE can be creative, they shall make some up :/

i would be too afraid that the result are just some more horribly generic looking ships that could be from pretty much any scifi scenario and turn the space part of star wars galaxies into "some random space game" galaxies.

and who needs huge capital ships? id rather see bigger transports or other medium ships getting an interior and allow for "real" capturing, ie. actually boarding the ship with a group of players, fighting your way to the bridge for capture or cargo area to loot it. and if the devs would have too much time on their hands they could expand on that whole pirates/traders/smugglers part, where you can either board ships as pirates, fight off boarding parties as trader or smuggler (or be hired to guard a ship). with some work (lots of work im afraid) the whole space part could be expanded to be a bigger part of the game and feel less like a game inside the game.

but any guilds flying a star destroyer? i can see the engineers racing back and forth those 1.2km on swoops just to repair damaged parts, unless they can man it with tons of players. and seeing certain screenshots it would be mandatory to fix the collision detection first, unless you want to see ships flying through the corridors all the time ,-)

Imagine people complaining on the forums about not being able to assemble a full crew for their Star Destroyer and wanting to implement droids to automate all the functions except the pilot. Just like they do now concerning the multiplayer ships.

ROFL 40 to 80 players on a ship. Ever been to Cnet and have 6 players decide to have a battle lol.

It would be a cool feature, but only for small capital ships, like the blockade runnner or lancer frigate.


They could re-use the interior for the corvette, except give it ports where people could control guns, pilot the ship, make repiars etc.

good point, but i didnt even have pvp in mind, just plain old boarding npc ships or being boarded by npc pirates. else you would need a secluded boarding area where the crew cant get into (example: an airlock that can only be opened by the boarding party who will then have to wait til all players are set). drawback: they could just camp there all day long unless one would add a timer that will open the door 1min after boarding or something. in fact, one could forget about the boarding party opening the door and just use the timer, find a lame ingame excuse for the delay (pressure whatever) and both parties should be set and ready when it begins. just remember the boarding scene in a new hope.. both groups would have a little time to take positions.

but i agree.. lets fix the current issues first before introducing a ton of new problems.

if you are supposed to be overt to attack, which im assuming you'd have to be, then you would have to load onto that ship overt.


problem there is while you are loading the people on the ship are going to spawn points and killing you while your loading then youll load in dead.


and if there's that 60 sec timer thing, then they'll just gather near you until you turn overt and basically shred you to pieces.


it'll never work, not saying i wouldnt want it too, but it'd be a coding nightmare.


let's let them work out the current bugs, then we can talk about putting in new things for jtl. i'd personally love seeing some of the ground professions being tied into JTL,


OR


having a higher division other than ace be obtained after you master ace, for imperials it'd involve larger roles in the Imperial Navy allowing you access to even more ships, commands, privileges, items.


JTL has a lot of potential i'm sure the devs have something planned for the future
