I hope this post will make jump to lightspeed a better game some day.

I'm not mad

Here is my story

I am a very busy person, but I love the idea of the MMORPG

I often only have time to play very late at night, or for only an hour or two at a time.

I re-opened my star wars galaxies account when I read about jump to lightspeed.

I love space games, and when I started to play JTL I thought it was the best space game I'd ever played. It has great graphics, great game play, Just the right amount of complexity for my taste, and most importantly it has what I can only describe as a great feel to it . It seemed perfect. I could get missions from my trainer, go up in space and do the missions. Then when I landed on a planet to upgrade my ship or do an adventure down there I felt like all the people living out their lives on planets were helping to make my game, which took place mostly in space, more fun. It was great.

But then I hit tier 3 and discovered that I could no longer solo my missions. The enemies were too hard, and the missions took way too long to do by myself.

I didn't give up though, because after all, its an MMORPG, so why not just get in a good team?

I logged in the next night and began asking for people to team up with. After about a half hour of this I found a guy who was willing to help me do my mission. We got almost all the way through it but I died and he had to log out. He tried to cheer me up saying " Don't let it get you down, it's supposed to be really hard, if it wasn't, it wouldn't be fun." And really, I agree.

Here's the thing though guys.

I really can't spend an hour, or even a half hour, just getting a team together.

I wish the missions in Space where like the missions in City of Heros, where more bad guys are generated when more people are in the team. This encourages people to make teams because they get more experience and better rewards, but doesn't punish people who have less time and have to play at odd hours, because it is possible and even pretty easy, to solo missions.

This space part of the game would really be fun if a LOT OF PEOPLE where able to master the space part of the game, and get involved in the pvp part of space.

I see no real reason to make mastering the space part of the game take a long time like the ground grind does.

If it were possible for me to solo, I would still try to be in a team because it's always more fun to work with others, but I need to be able to solo when I can't find a team

I play games to have fun, and to relax from my life which is sometimes frustrating.

When this game forces me to spend huge amounts of time typing in the chat channels, begging people to help me do my missions I because frustrated, and even started feeling a little lonesome.

When I realized that a game which was supposed to be entertaining me was actually making me feel LONESOME, I laughed at myself, then cancelled my account.

If the developers ever change the game to make it possible to solo the missions and progress toward the Master Piolet goal on nights when I can't find a team, I'd love to come back to this game .

Would someone please post here and let me know if that ever happens?

Dont think its gonna happen. Try to make friends with people who play the same time as you. Or on your days off run the missions. Better yet Join a Pilots guild if there is one on your server.

I wish many things in SWG were more like City of Heros. But that's another thread.

Shimmrodd, I don't know if this will help, but I'm not sure I'd give up just yet.

I firmly believe most, if not all missions can be solo'd in JTL... the one possible exception being the Corvette for your final ace mission (and even that I suspect you could solo given the right circumstances).

Space in many ways is still similar to the ground. Generally speaking, equipment can make a world of difference. Most players wouldn't attempt to solo a Nightsister Elder with just a CDEF pistol and pair of hawtpants. But given the best weapon(s), armor and buffs available, many players not only attempt, but succeed.

JTL isn't that different. If you want to solo some of the more challenging missions, your ship and its components have to be above average, if not exceptional.

You also have to use strategy. In some situations that might mean disabling enemy fighters instead of destroying them; it's often faster than dealing that final blow, and might slow the advancement of the next wave. There even may be times when avoiding a fight altogether is the best choice. If you have a command such as IFF Scramble, it can really make a huge difference when the odds are stacked against you. There's also the technique of hyperspacing within the same system when you get overwhelmed and/or are damaged and need a quick repair.

Everything else is merely hand-eye coordination and ping. If you're lacking in either department (or both), yeah, then you're in for trouble.

Lastly, bear in mind some of the pilot missions (I believe for all factions) have been bugged at one time or another. Some of your failures may have had nothing to do with you. I'd recommend searching the forums to see if any other players have had a problem with whatever current mission you're on - they might have specific tips on how to overcome it.

I've heard people say that they solo the missions, but after trying a couple times, I'm not sure I believe it.

I'm a good piolet in other space sim games.

I have good ping.

Are you using droid commands? I really wouldn't have been able some of my missions without them.

Most of the missions are indeed soloable. What you need isproper strategy.

Shim - I have a few recommendations for you. Believe me I understand where you are coming from reguarding the amount of time you have to play online. Most evenings I only have about an hour to play, I made Ace after 3 weeks playing
about an hour every night and one Sunday for about 6 hours. Here are my tips:

1. Join a PA. Find a PA that accepts your casual playstyle, there are pleaty of them out there.
2.Send a message out on the Planet chat tab. Let everyone know you are looking for help with a
mission, tell them the level an the type. (I.E. Rebel Tier 3).

3. Create a Macro that shouts out "Looking for Wingmates to helpwith Rebel Mission X, Tier X"
4. Use search and find all of the Rebel and Privateer pilots, send them a tell asking for help.
5. Add all of the pilots that you have flown with to your friends list. Add a note in the notes field to remind you that they are a pilot.

The missions are not to tough. For highly skilled and well equiped pilots some of them can be soloed. But that is more of an exception. If you have 3 people most of the tier 3 missions can be completed and with tier 4 missions, 4 people will get you though smoothly.

Try the tips that I gave you and in no time you will have your Ace, and have made a bunch of new friends along the way!
