After reactivating my account last week for JtL, I'm currently at Imperial Pilot 1/2/1/1. I have just started looking closer at the Flight Computer. For starters, I have uploaded the commands available to myself to my computer. But as I understand it, you can upload any commands to the computer, if you can find a disk with the command. Is that true? Can I use Reactor Overdrive 4 with my current level - if I come across a disk with that command? If not, what's the requirements for using each command?
Any basic flight computer tips greatly appreciated

The different disks have different command sizes. It is possible, and quite advantageous, for any Tier 1 pilot to use something like Engine overload 4. (if they have the reactor capacity to power it) Droid commands are universal, but the disks can only be created by a pilot of appropriate alignment and level. I'm currently running a full array of Imp, Rebel, AND Freelancer specials. It's a beautiful thing to have a Decimator doing 1375 speedand 2-hitting Tier 5 fighters.

How does the astromech programs actually works? When I fire up Engine Overload 2, I can see that my ship moves faster. And it does so for a considerable amount of time. But after some time, the max. speed is back to "normal". Do the programs stop working after some specified amount of time? Or after jumps? Or..? It's easy to spot that the Engine Overload has stopped working. It's more tricky with the (even more important) weapons overload. Is there a way to check if a program is running?
I am begining to realise the potential of a well equipped Flight Computer. It's amazing how effective even the 2nd level programs are. I can't wait to get my hands on the 4th levels...

Personally I tend to stay away from the level 4's. They tend to take a bit too much, unless of course I'm in my Decimator, then it's all good. But in my fighters I stick to level 3 and below... well just level 3 maybe
