I would like to say that I love how the first 3 tiers of the pilot skills are quest based.
I'm dissmayed that the final tier and master are not quest based.
In my opinion, this is how ALL skills should be. The quests should teach you how to use the skill and not require grinding. When you pass the quest that requires you to use your new skills, you should get advanced to the next level.
Way to go on the pilot professions. I'm glad the devs figured it out at least a bit. There's no point to a treadmill. Just wish they would expand this to the entire pilot profession and all other skills in the game!

There's an exit mission for Tier 4 in addition to individual quests for each box. There are 2 quest-based missions for Master.

Yes, this is true. I was refering to the missions in tier 1-3 that would result in the trainer giving you a skill box for free. You could grind if you wanted, but if you did the content and got into the story of being a pilot (corsec in my case), you flew through the skill.
Of course this'd mean you need a good solid endgame.

Actually, only tier 1 and 3 are completely quest-based. Tier 2 requires 60k xp per box before you can learn it. It just so happens that the duty mission get you really close to that.

I agree. Quests are FUN. Grinding is not.
To take off the master grinding, just help people do their missions. It's a lot more
fun to fly in groups anyway
